Great show. A prediction about the ESD revamp we’re going to see. Cryptic is doing the revamp partially to get players to use ESD more, and for a short wile use will improve.. But it will not stick. The reason is not the zone.. its people and their perceptions. As Long as the studios’ GM’s don’t address the actions of a minority of the players that create a hostile and unfriendly environment in local and zone chat (ie trash talking)and spamming of party amps and the like (party bombing is the recent term used to describe this activity) Player use of social zones will continue to be low no matter what they do. Most STO players are trek fans.. and don’t have a whole lot of tolerance for trash talking fun killers. The broken party amps (read the tool tips for the things and look at the effects, don’t take my word for it!) being exploited.. I wonder still, months after the introduction of these items what went through anyone head at cryptic to purposely put an item in game that can be used to prank other players. What a great way to create a hostile environment! Want them used Cryptic? Then police them! The activity of a minority create an impression of a Hostile unfrendly place. Not very Trek.. Where the dickens is security?

To the phenomenal hosts of Priority One Podcast,

I am a former professional major market radio host (15 years with a college diploma in Broadcasting and Media) who believes strongly you should be honest with people.

I tell you truthfully, ALL of you… Elijah, Cookie, and Jayce – you sound like you’ve been professional announcers your entire lives. You’re all great!

Elijah, I love your energy, enthusiasm and direction of the team! You’re passionate and emotional…and it brings out the best in all involved.

Cookie, you’re so honest and real! Add to that your wonderfully silky sweet voice, amazing laugh, and very sharp wit.

Jayce has a velvety baritone voice that would make James Earl Jones envious! So knowledgeable and easy to listen to…Jayce explains things effectively in a way that any age/level of Star Trek Online player and fan can understand.

There are other Priority One performers I haven’t
mentioned that deserve worthy praise as well.

The production quality of Priority One is outstanding.

You’ve been nominated for very prestigious awards against stiff competition recently…I strongly believe next you’ll be winning them!

Oops! What was the community question again?

    Peace and Long Life,

    Live Long and Podcast! 🙂

I like the new mission. It seems that lately they have been coming out with content that challenges the current game play philosophy DPS! You cant just DPS this, you kinda have to be sneeky even. I do miss the old mirror for leveling toons ,and helping low level new players level faster to help keep them in the game till and after max level. I have also noticed that Cryptic has put in a safety valve of sorts with all of these TIMED missions Events and so on. No more “when you complete this objective, this happens” game play makes DPS less of a factor although NOT a non factor by any means. I do agree that Elite mirror is Crazy hard! Those typhoons pack a punch the tractor beams alone can take you out in an escort even with healing yourself .

I think that the mirror universe event is a glorious field for combat. My favorite part, Flying into the fray and defending the station with my Obelisk ‘Prosperity’ and her spawn of swarmer’s. Not something you see often… on normal of course. The sight of seeing so many terrain ships fall at the hands of a carrier & drones, just makes me smile.
The rewards are nice…. though I might keep a sidearm handy when getting hakeev He’ll have to earn his keep on my ship.

P.S. Thanks for the heads up on the wide angle torpedo launcher… for me, that will see good use.

    Great work as always.

I remember hearing that the Priority One fleet was created to chronicle the building of a fleet. When is P1 going put anything out from that?

  10. Jayce on 2014-03-18

Mirror Hakeev could be useful for anyone, it’s true! It’s probably more common for Science Captains to run at high Aux power to maximize its effect, or to pay attention to the proximity of other players for healing purposes. So it might be a little better for that sort of player who’d devote an active duty slot to the selfless pursuit of ally health, that’s all. 🙂

Right away another fun to hear Episode Keep up your Labor of love.

To comment on the episodes Topics straight away the Event like someone else alreadyy mentioned about up to 30 min for that Event serious?

Myself got 17 lvl 50 toon that would love to get there Hands on that sneaky not evil mirror b****rd yet i get the Impression Cryptic tries realy hard that i have to Abandon my some of my toons whith These Kind of Events.

Why could this not be a account unlock so People do it onece a day with any toon of their choice and get the reward after the min requirement is met.

Playtime stay playtime no matter what toons you use and think about it those People with extra charachter Slots ae the ones that usualy drop extra cash into the game.

Just a question why should the DOff be great for SCi Cpts it does not Change or buff any SCi Cpt power and Hazard Emitters can be and usualy is used on every ship no matter wich class?

Just one more Thing please cut that QQ about min maxer and PvP.

The usual Domain of Min maxer in other games are the raider not primarily PvP as with raiding every Little extra HP and DPS can Change an Encounter right away from impossible to just challenging when PvP the skill component is the primary defining charachter first not to devalue yet not to devalue skill for raid PvE or min/max for PvP tho.

I totaly agree on last weeks Episode STO is no matter what Gekkos says a casual game one strong defining factor is that there is no class related inter dependency.

In Space Escorts are King for pretty much all the Content no matter what Cpt class you are.

Looking forward to next weeks Episode

    Hey everyone,

I wanted to remind you all of the reason behind the reasoning for having to come out of warp in the Sol System or DS9 before docking at the ESD or DS9.

First of all there is the Canon reason, outside of the JJ-Verse, you cannot beam at warp safely. Secondly you must slowly approach ESD to prevent the planetary defenses from mobilizing, approaching at high warp is illadvised.

Secondly there is a reason for the Space areas around earth now. That is that we as players get to fiddle with ship layouts, and make unique looking ships. The Social Zones, and the ESD and Kronos space areas are really the only places to show off those ships in good lighting without going to planetary systems with missions.

I for one, DO use the Captain’s Table, as it has a nice, semi-private feel, and is a good place for me to go deal with things like marketeering, and organization. I would like the ability to invite teammates to the Captain’s Table with me.

As for the Mirror Event, I love the rewards, and kind of hate the mission, just becuase I usaully do it with PUGs and the fact that it doesn’t fail if the station goes down encourages AFKers.

  16. Sunseahl on 2014-03-17

The Mirror Queue is a fun and exciting new venture, however, it still doesn’t address the core problem that removing the Mirror hourly took away, leveling on new characters. The removal of The mirror event itself has damaged a LOT of players ability to grind endgame resources early in leveling while also helping them to level. I don’t see how a level 50 Queue fixes this.

MU event is fun but the ships can pile up fast if u don’t close those rifts and besides who does not want a hakeeve with a beard!!! never underestimate the power of the beard!!!

Excellent episode everyone. Loved hearing from Dr Hurt again!
I love the new ESD, now i just have to figure where everything is again, like i did when they redid Qo’Nos.
Not only can you see the exterior of the stations, but also it gives a place to start missions from, for instance foundry missions.
I love the new Mirror event, very nice. I personally just run it on normal, i dont feel the extra time and battery expense justifies the rewards.

  21. Sanokskyrat on 2014-03-17

hmmmm i just got back from a tour so just had my first go of the mirror. I like it but 30 mins for each toon is too long. i got 16 maxed toons. that’s 8 hours for one event and NOT doing another else. So thats bad.

    • Sanokskyrat on 2014-03-17

PS. Cookie. try the pet scans for romulans. Its great because its a 5 min thing and you can do other stuff for 24 hours.

I really enjoyed the new MU event and I hope they replace the current Borg Red Alerts with something similar. It would also be nice to see a ground component in the future, as I’m sure the station was defending against boarding parties while the ships were duking it out in space.

    • The_Grand_Nagus on 2014-03-17

That said, I really wish the special drop was account bound, not character. Playing the same event 14 times would be a lot more fun if I could do it on different characters, rather than having to do it 14 times on the same character to get the reward.

The new mirror event was awesome! Though it felt sorta annoying when I got myself poked by those frigate when I was closing the rift most of the time.

And perhaps there’s something special for Tactical ships/captain would do too during the mission, other than blowing ships up.
