to Uchan’s question last episode about the “Launch Carrier pets” keybinding. In short, yes, it does help. I have the simple launch carrier pets command bound along side my firing key so that my pets are continuously launching. When you have an empty wing out there, this will allow your pets to launch and fill in the gaps. This makes sure that you have the maximum number of pets out as possible, meaning more chances for them to use their special abilities and more weapons shooting at them.
I have not run into issues with this keybind. the Launch Pets command does not share any global or shared cooldowns with any other known power, nor does it drain any resources, power or equipment. Spamming this button ensures that you have a fill compliment of pets in the sky at all times.
However, I will note that the carrier commands (attack, intercept, escort, and recall) should NOT be keybound and should be activated based on your tactical situation. Nothing worse then to be in the middle of an STF and get hit with an insta-kill torpedo because your pets were on Attack mode rather than Intercept mode.

With Vulcan High Consul leaving Romulus to its doom, and a long history of leaving less advanced civilizations to face existential disasters alone in the name of prime directive, and at a time when the Klingons successfully defended Alpha and Beta Quadrant from Undine infiltration with their invasion of the Gorn world, Cryptic have set up a back drop where KDF could’ve been a great foil to the Federation. Having dropped the ball this badly on Klingons I don’t see how the Romulan faction could be successful.

Hey folks, enjoyed the show! A few comments regarding the “why didnt they finish the KDF first” issue. In general, I think the Klingons *are* more popular with both Trek fans and in pop culture than the Romulans. However, the KDF faction in this game has gotten such a bad reputation that there are a lot of people that will never touch it no matter how much content they add, and I think Cryptic/PW knows that.
However, as Tony said, Romulans are something completely new and free from any existing stigma. Sure, some people are skeptical about how it will all play out *based* on what happened with the KDF, but at this point its a clean slate. And honestly, I think the STO team is big enough now that they can actually develop a faction the right way. I also think that James made a very good point about the Romulans being something of a middle ground between the two extremes of the Fed and KDF factions.
So while the idealistic part of me wishes they would have fully “finished” the KDF before starting the Romulans, the realistic part completely understands why they did it this way. And to be completely honest, I’m incredibly excited about this expansion. With the new movie coming out in May, a free Trek MMO, and now this expansion, this is truly the greatest time in history to be a Trek fan.
Keep up the good work everybody!

I’m really optimistic about the upcoming May update, and now that Cryptic has staffed up I really think they have the resources to pull this off, and more.
One thing you forgot to mention when covering the additional weapons in the Fleet store is the addition of the Andorian Phaser weapons (Polaron and Antiproton fleet weapons have always been there, I’ve been using them for months).
I was a bit disappointed in that blog about tips for small fleets. It seemed to be targeted towards letting players in small fleets get equipment usually only available to larger fleets. What I’d like to see is a blog with tips to small fleets for ways to help speed their own progress along in the current system.
Great show guys, keep up the good work.

Even though it is good to see a Romulan Faction, I do have the concern will it be too much having the 3rd playable faction. They are still building on a Dev and QA team, even though that have show the reward of having a larger dev team with New Romulas, they never really give anything new and unique that is permanite to the Klingon Player Faction. Cryptic may say by doing this they do have, but working 6 days to complete this, but to me taking time away from socailizing and family says they don’t.
I do know for a fact there is still alot of things and repairs in the Klingon faction to be done, one to mention is having more klingon items in the foundry to work with. Compared to the Federation/Starfleet, it is very limiting in what is there in making a KDF Foundry Mission.
Even though it was voiced in by the players in the survey that Dan Stahl put out 6 months ago to have a Romulan playable faction. Cryptic should of taken in the factor of what we want and what we need.
Good show too guys. 🙂

I’m going to start having to join in the Trek Radio discussions to defend the reboot. You guys are mad rude to my boys 😉

Looking forward to the new faction, and finally being able to change that display color for the klingons hurt my eyes too much looking into that red display.

On the “new” Romulan faction discussion. Remember that this is the first major “new” content release on this scale. So the game will get a huge spike in people playing until they hit lvl 50.
Elijah is right. STO in its current state pales in comparison to every other popular mmo. Play TOR. Even as a non-subscriber in TOR, the amount of content that exist for just the republic side alone casts a huge shadow over the entirety of STO.

P.S. keep Tony around. he knows what he’s talking about.

I’m not so much into politics… but I’m going to steal one of their statements to claim…
I’m an eighteen percenter 🙂
I can’t wait to play Romulan!!
