137Hello Captains and welcome to Priority One’s 137th episode, recorded on Thursday,  July 25th, 2013 and published on Monday, July 29th, 2013 at PriorityOnePodcast.com!!!

James has taken the Argo for a spin to Las Vegas ahead of the rest of the away team so this week Tony and Elijah have the bridge and bring you yet another awesome batch of news as well as your feedback! In Trek It Out Tony tells us of NASA’s research into warp drive, and why it may not be too far from reality. In STO News we cover Dan Stahl’s State of the Game address, the Mogai and Valdore C-Store ships, Legacy of Romulus Dev Blog #34, news from Trek Radio about a small event happening in Vegas shortly, and bring you a summary of the patch notes. Next, we head at warp 9.5 into this weeks Dev Interview with special guest Charles Gray, Cryptic’s Lead Content Designer, and finally we open up hailing frequencies and review your incoming messages.

This week’s Community Questions:

I actually did get both the Mogai Retrofit and the Valdor. I love the consoles and their bonuses, as well as flying the Mogai Retrofit! It’s my kind of Escort: Not as maneuverable as say a Defiant, but way more durable. Also, the Ionized Particle beam can be EXTREMELY powerful if you use it right. I used an Aux battery, followed by a couple buffs and debuffs on a target, and hit for 64K Damage with it, I’m not kidding! I can’t wait for my fleet to reach Starbase Tier 3 so I can get my Fleet variant. =)

Would like to see things made a bit easier for small fleets. Im on my own, like many others, i’m sure. It is a grind just to get somewhere with my base, embassy and dil mine. The dil mine will help a tad. But not really a big improvement for me. I made a suggestion sometime ago, that fleets under 25 people get 40% discount on marks, dil, officers and commodities for fleet projects, then fleets 26 to 50 people. get say 25%, then fleets with 51 to 100 get %10, then 101 to max(i think is 200 people max in a fleet), get 0%. This is just as an example, throw out there idea off the top of my head 🙂

I completely agree with Amoroxic. Cryptic should give up on the Klingon war storyline, let all factions team up with each other for all content (which would save players quite a lot of headache), and focus on being the PvE-centric game they already are. They can still implement new PvP mechanics as “simulated wargames” like it already is for Fed vs Fed. Heck, make it a big event that the Klingon war is ending. Hire Michael Dorn to do some VOs as Worf and give him a role in bringing about the peace process. Both the new content and the newly unified factions would be good for the game.

Damn those Vulcan’s! They hold us back! When will NASA learn? We got a engine that works NOW! Warp 5! NO MORE TESTS!

I have a comment about I forgot the name, but it sounded kind of “sad” to me when someone said,(Time:23:50)”Started off making Klingon content of all things.”

For “Content” Wise, I guess I am looking forward to the new PvP Revamp… but then again that’s all I was interested in. I am a KDF person at heart, and it felt stomped on again that the KDF was only mentioned on a new ship coming soon which was mentioned before in a previous Podcast, so really nothing new that way. It is not the fact of putting you down for this, it is just sad that, sure, we got LVL 1-50, and I played a KDF From 1+, it was OK…. but then I played ROM LvL 1+… and TBH, big difference in my opinion. All in all… for the sake of the KDF community, we would like to know at least what ship we are getting, because the “we are working on it” doesn’t help us much.

    QUESTIONS:

What Is The New KDF Ship Name, And or What Is It’s Class?

Romulans Now Have More Costumes Than KDF Already. Will We Be Seeing Some New KDF Uniforms, More Beneficial To Other Races, (My Stronghold, Gorn Costumes, Hopefully Different From the Arena Episode)

Will there be an availability in “Costume Option” for Borg Implants for Either 1: Lifers or 2: Gold Members or even C-Store? Can it be the same implants Liberated has or somewhat close to that? (All Races SHOULD Be Able To Have Implants If So, Because not ALL Borg Are Human Klingon and Romulan, and “Game Wise”, no traits needed with them)

If not, how about more races for Liberated Borg?

If you win the lottery for STO, and winnings after taxes are around one hundred million, how would you spend it in General? KDF Alone? FED? ROM?

What is the current population of the game with the factions?

Can we see easier EC Grinds In The Near Future?

Can You Reduce The Commanded EC (Amount of Items Needed) For REP?

Will Gorn ever be able to Rebel? Will they be able Race Specifically To Side With The Gorn?

Can There Be Added Options to Current KDF Missions For Gorn OR Neutral Talk For Missions in General Like Remans have?

Will We See Some New “Non KDF Biased” Bridges?

What are your thoughts on the KDF/ROM/FED at this state?

Will FED EVER Stop Getting Ships? (Is More of A Joke, But Serious)

    Change Weapon Color?

When Will We See The Availability To “Play As First Officer?”

Availability of “Universal Kits” (For ALL Carrers) That Include Things Like “Handlers” With Attack Pets Like Saur, Targ, And whatever FED have, or simple things that every Captain could use in combat?

Finally, KDF Wise, Are You Glad With What You Did With It? You think there could be any improvement to make it more enjoyable, I.E. VO, Stronger Conversations, etc?

I’m looking for the creation the creation of the Borg faction for players to be able to become because I know so many wanted to be Borg to start out with when first joining STO, just as others couldn’t wait to be Klingon. I got a clue that it’s the Iconians that will be the ultimate bad guy threat which will be interesting for so many to be surprised at. The newer Romulan ships beyond the scimitar are amazing designs for the Romulans. But I’ve noticed the Klingons has the worse when starting out with only 1 queue of PvE and droves of opportunity to PvP space & ground. With no start episodes until you reach abut 10th level. I notice the 20 player queues are mostly avoided because hardly enough people wants to wait around so long. Too many fleet rewards in the queues and not enough dilithium ones. The House Always Wins episode of Klingon player going to Gorath System can not be beaten until at least at the 28 level; a discouragement with this one.

How do you make fleets easier for small fleets without making it too easy for large fleets? That seems to be one of the sticking points, and the community has certainly had a dearth of good ideas that wouldn’t be easily exploitable.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t look at it or make any changes, but players seem to think its an easy problem to solve when its clearly not.
