I’m intrigued by the potential inclusion of Section 31 in Star Trek Discovery. Done well (as in DS9), Section 31 represents an interesting counter to our usual Starfleet do-gooder heroes; unlike other baddies (the Klingons, the Terran Empire), they are committed to the ideals and freedoms of the Federation, yet they believe that preserving it sometimes requires doing the EXACT OPPOSITE. That includes secret police-like abductions, regime change, even attempts at genocide (although Admiral Cornwell could give them a run for their money on that last one 😉 ). They could be used as an adversary AND a (reluctant) ally to the Discovery crew in various stories. At the same time though I’m disappointed by the idea that Section 31 and its members would be so OBVIOUS about their existence to everyone they meet. My understanding was that Section 31 was more like a shadow cabal within Starfleet and the Federation (like The Trust in Stargate, or HYDRA in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and less of an officially sanctioned covert ops department like the CIA. So no not-so-secret club Black badges (I’m hoping that can be retconned into it being the Starfleet Intelligence or some other official division badge, and Section 31 has just infilitrated its ranks), no special fleet of starships, “Legion of Doom” headquarters, etc.; I think it does a disservice to the character for it to be just another run-of-the-mill black ops government agency. I believe it was only in Into Darkness that Section 31 became watered down in this way. #IBlameJJ
I’m disappointed by the supposed lack of Vorta options in “Victory Is Life”, especially since “Weak eyes, good ears” sounds like an amaaa-zing species trait for them. Hopefully this oversight can be rectified in a future content release. On the flip side, I’m pleasantly surprised by the reported size of the Gamma Quadrant in X4, even if most of systems only end up as Foundry doors. I’d like some future treatment of the Delta Quadrant to receive the same consideration.

Hi P1,
regarding section 31 I’m not a fan, it a very over used plot device at this point, I would love to see some other faction have a spotlight like temporal investigations unit or the actual star fleet intelligence
just like to throw my 2 cents in on the expansion, I was excited by starting at 60 with gear as this may help me make the jump to Console
and may also help others come in my position, hopefully this comes out without the need to have an existing max character as I’m only in for the story and don’t really want to play all the content again… and again.. and again
STO’s character services are quite limited when compared to other online games like wow, this is would be a step in the right direction imo

I can’t wait. The Gamma Quadrant! To Boldly Go where no one has gone before. I look forward to getting to explore a section of the Multiverse that no one has really explored in depth. Strap in, Captains, this bag of tribbles just got real!

My dreams of a T6 Luna are all shattered now. x_x
