Elio is a Northern New Jersey Cuban-American and graduate of Kean University, having earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance in 2011. He has performed in internationally renowned performance halls such as Avery Fisher Hall with the New York Philharmonic, as a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, and in Beijing, China as a representative for Kean University. Since 2012, he has had the wonderful opportunity to Executive Produce Priority One – the premiere Star Trek Online podcast. Whether recruiting, managing the global team of talented volunteers, arranging interviews with special guests, editing, web-development, finding sponsors, managing crowd funding, or writing content for the podcast, Elio has a hand in it all. A long-time Trekkie, Elio has been watching the series since he was a child and sneaking in late night, back-to-back, episodes of TNG reruns. He finally embraced the Trekdom in college and spent many hours catching up on the entire multiverse…. instead of studying.

I’m actually pretty excited that a main character is a fungus scientist. From what I’ve been led to believe by my life science friends, fungus is some weird stuff that we barely understand, so there are lots of sci-fi storytelling opportunities there. For example, the lead may not be thrust into command by, say, the death of a captain, but rather thrust into the narrative lead because the captain may or may not have been hijacked by a fungus similar to the one that creepily hijacks ants: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fungus-makes-zombie-ants/
That could inject some Battlestar Galactica-like paranoia into the show: who has been infected by alien fungus? Is this fungus scientist for real when he brings up this conspiracy theory of fungus-hijacked Starfleet officers? Or, you know, other fungus stories.

I think the casting so far has been good. Doug Jones was one of the Gentlemen in Buffy’s Hush, considered one of the best episodes of the series. I’m not familiar with Rapp, or Yeoh, but from what I do understand about them it should be interesting. I’m a bit disappointed to hear that Bryan Fuller won’t be involved, but I do continue to have hope. I have to.

As for the Phoenix pack, I got the few things I wanted for my temporal agent, and now I’m hoping for the Bulwark or the Attack Ship, and loving the upgrades.

Great interview with Sternbach, such great stories. What a treat, Thanks Elijah !

First I was excited, then disappointed: I really-really-really would have liked Michelle Yeoh as the new Discovery captain/lead; I just love-love-love her work. But I’ll take what I can get. 🙂

re Phoenix Prize pack; I’ll take all the uncommon packs I can get – doing the dili/rate math, the Phoenix Upgrades are equal to, or perhaps just a tad better than Superior Tech Upgrades so it’s a win.
I’m lucky enough to already have most of the ships (except for the Jem Hadar Bug ship) and the Red Matter Capacitor is pretty much outdated now (yay for powercreep).

    Great show everyone !
