Some thought just crossed my mind:

Since Kam speaks more to the min-max-top-deck-dps-league-crowd than Elijah,

maybe Kenna (?) (wait … wait … let me check … YEAH, you updatet the team section with pics and written names and stuff, WHOOHOO! 😀 )

ok, soo, maybe Kenna should feel more EMPOWERED to speak for us Rookies!
    Even more so than Cookie.
    (*irealizeitshardtonotbeintimidatedbysomeoneashandsomeasKam* 😀 )

Which brings me to another point: Elijah has made his decisions quite clear – but refresh my memory – did we hear anything from Cookie, sweet Cookie?!
Cookie?! Hello?! I love you(r voice)! Please talk to us! 😀

      P.S.: Picking something up on sub-neural frequencies…
      transcript following:

*LTBazz: Ok, subconcious, I told you not to contact me … again!

Subconcious LTBazz: Listen up, Moron! I am part of you, whether you like it or not!

LTB: Gosh, please! I told you to move out years ago!

SC: Aand I am still here. What does this tell us about YOU?

LTB: IDK. And I don’t WANNA know! So tell me, what has your … my … sick brain come up with this time?

      SC: A trope about Kam.

LTB: What? Why would you? – he is just a nice guy, who is very good at STO and is trying to teach –

      SC: Kaldom Cooper.*

        *georgetakeivoice* OH HI! 😉

        Dear, sweet Mademoiselle!
It’s good to see you are still around!

Like I hinted before, I would like to ask (And I feel like I am speaking for the public):

Why do you deprive us of your angelic presence on P1P?
Is it because of that Elijah guy?! You didn’t have to go down with him! 😉

He made quite a buzz about his departure from hosting, but – correct me – we didnt’t hear much from you?
If you are somehow forced by him, just nod twice! 😉

Anyway, my heart is broken and you will be sincerely missed!

In response to the advanced que discussion, I am totaly psyced with this change. People who dont have a lot of time to play and dont often have fleeties to play with like myself had pretty much gieven up on all the advanced ques, because with pugs they were litteraly impossible. These were a big source of fun for me back in the day and I hated when they changed them. And it’s not like 1-2 advnaced rnd mats and an advanced rep reward are so unreasonbly overrewarding. You need a ton of these things to have them be worth anything, so having them and the fun of advanced ques locked out to obligate puggers was always a bad idea. Being so against this seems a little snobby to me

Really it all depends on how long I want to spend in game. If I have the time I do like to play advanced missions especially when it is a fleet team. But mainly I only play Basic because most of the time it is just to top off some rep points because I am in the mists of creating something out of the rep system and need to finish it. So this is just going to steer me closer to just Basic missions.

But I would like to put this out there because I think that there should be more effort in the “Recycle” system in game. What I am talking about mainly is fleet equipment that is purchased but not used anymore. I would like to see a system that allows us to get even half credit back on fleet marks and dylithium or allow us to give these items to only other fleet members. I know that I have a bunch of phasers and a couple warp cores and a few tac consuls that I would like to get rid of but after spending so much time getting them its not with the EC

    Hello,

I’ve already posted a comment, but after reading some of these other comments, I have decided to post something else. Priority One, if you want to read off what I have written, go ahead and mash them together and edit it how you like. If you think what I have written is worthless dribble, go ahead and ignore it, I’m fine with that.

My main character is a Federation Engineer. I also have a Romulan Tactical Officer (Federation allied) that I am working on. I have many other toons but those two are the ones I am working the most on.

A few months ago, I was lucky to hit 13k DPS on ISA with my Engineer. Then I made an effort to push my character further (thanks to P1, Ezri Ryan, SarcasmDetector, the DPS league, and many others for the insparation). I started scoring 18k+ then 19k+. Now my Engineer regularly scores in the mid to high 20K. My Romulan Tactical scored 30k about a week ago. I want to push these toons further.

I’ve seen quite a few comments expressing the desire that Advanced and Elite difficulty be scaled back. I don’t want to see this happen. Players have shown that it is possible to push our toons to amazing performance. I want to do the same, I want to push the U.S.S. Endeavour and the R.R.W. Idolon so they do amazing things. I’m concerned though that when I finally reach that level, there may not be a foe worthy of my ships’ power.

Normal difficulty should be fun and casual. It should take little effort to master. If a player wants to stay at that level, that is fine with me. There are some games that I like to play at fun and casual and I don’t bother going into harder difficulty.

For those that want to go further, there should be Advanced and it should make you squirm when you first try it. Advanced teaches us how to put in thought and preparation into our builds and gameplay.

For some, Advanced is as far as they want to go; and again, that is fine. For others, it is not enough. Elite players have taken the lessons from Advanced and pushed the skills gained to their limits. These players are soloing ISA when your typical 5 man PUG fails it about a third of the time. These kind of players need a type of content that will make them asks, “Are we going to win?” And when they ask this, it should not be because they have doubts about their skill.

I am not an elite player. God and life may prevent me from getting to that level. But if I do get to that level, I want there to be a foe that always keeps me asking, “Are we going to win?”

    I, StarChaser, agree with SarcasmDetector.

Going to add my voice to the chorus of disagreement with Kam.

The difficulty level in elite queues went from not bad for casual gamers in September of last year to simply *brutal* after Delta Rising was launched.

I think it’s disrespectful to players who regularly played elite queues before Delta Rising to call them “entitled” for wanting the difficulty to be scaled back toward what they were used to.

Cryptic said they would adjust queues based on player feedback, which they’ve now done. If this means more people can play advanced and elite queues, I can only see that as a good thing.

    • gavinruneblade on 2015-06-19

By far and away the biggest problem was poor communication causing bad player expectation. And that’s all on the devs here.

They said “difficulty would be about the same”. Players heard ” if you can do old elite right now you can do new advanced on day one just as easy”.

But that’s, and we know this from hindsight and dev interviews, NOT what they meant. What they meant was

“Doing new advanced at 50 in purple mark 12 is the same as doing old elite at 45 in green mark 10s. Some can do it most will struggle. Level to 60, upgrade your gear and at max level with max gear you’ll rock”

Then they made the enemy hipoints scale too high (which we warned them about on tribble).

This double whammy was too much.

That said, i can see their point of view now. I just wish they had been more clear up front. Facerolling pre-dr elites in max level ships with max tier gear is not the same as trying to run post-dr advanced at -10 levels and -2marks off max tier gear.

But I don’t think a single player heard what they intended to say. It really could have been handled much better.

Go get him Cookie, the admiral has it coming!

I play bug hunt on elite, brotherhood of the sword on advanced, and only play the rest on advanced if i need the rep special marks.

    Wonderful show everyone.

I do play advanced queues, or at least i did before i heard about these changes. I played Brotherhood of the Sword and Gateway to Grethor both on advanced so i could get more marks and get the elite mark. now that the advanced and normal queues are virtually identical, i will be running normal more and the only reason i would run advanced is to get the elite mark but even that is questionable since now all you have to do is grind a certain amount of marks and put them into a reputation project to get the elite mark.

  14. Sunseahl on 2015-06-16

I STRONGLY disagree with Kam. Dude, if you want to do elites, more power to you. You deserve to go out and do as much “shoot all the things” as you want. honestly I wouldn’t care if they /removed/ the crafting mats from advanced Queues. My biggest issue with the PVE Queues has always been that now they’ve locked out the elite tokens behind harder to run content, meaning only if you’re lucky enough to be in a fleet that runs those queues /or/ a pug that knows what they’re doing are you ever going to see those elite tokens… It means you LACK the ability to improve your character. like every other player complains at you about needing to do.

It’s even worse when compounded by the fact that Omega gear /still/ demands 5 elite tokens per item when almost all other reputations only need 2 or 3 and you only get 1 per Queue.

Honestly, I don’t give a damn about salvage tech… that’s crafting crap and I’ve all but given up on crafting simply because it’s too tedious to me. At this point I look at new players and my delta recruit and I just want to get the damn basic Omega gear, THEN I can worry about being more efficient at killing things.

Although it may not seem it by those at P1, this insinuated argument that “look Elite is easy if you do the DPS,” or “you need to know your builds” /does/ in fact come across as a stereotypical MMO elitist mentality. We all enjoy Star Trek but as the seasons go by we always seem come back down to the base of every MMO “You need to be doing more DPS or you’re worthless here. Lernt to play better nubz.”

it makes it feel like you’re saying that people don’t deserve to play content because they’re not already good enough at it to have [blank] gear and not that you want to help people step into harder content with you.

    • gavinruneblade on 2015-06-16

You can get elite marks 1/day by converting normal marks. Also 3/day on deferi and one of those (probe) you can earn just by being in the same instance when someone else does the mission. It is annoyingly rare, but elite marks also drop in mthe daily/hourly boxes you get as reputation projects. Finally, you get 8 Borg elite marks for reaching tier 5 rep, and it is the only rep to give those at tier 5.

There is literally nothing stopping anyone from gearing up. No one has to do advanced or elite content to get gear.

      • Sunseahl on 2015-06-16

No one may have to but that is what was for so long. You can’t expect every player to suddenly shunt themselves into content they don’t play or don’t even really understand exist. There’s still no tutorial or mission that says “go to Defera, Borg” and aside from the new reputation project and already being tier 5 omega I’ve only now got 4 pieces of anything Omega…. Assimilated Module, Kinetic beam, Omega Armor, Omega Shield. A lot of 20 hour waits and a lot more Advanced queues that end in failure simply because my teammates chase the spheres in Infected Conduit Advanced.

        • GavinRuneblade on 2015-06-17

You’re absolutely right, a reputation tutorial would be a huge help. The mission at level 45 where you go to visit the omega fleet is SUPPOSED to give you that information, but no one reads it and it hasn’t been updated anyway so it is missing everything important.

Unfortunately the 20-hour cooldown is more of a barrier to your character who is already tier 5 than a new character. A new character needs 40 days to hit tier 5 anyway, picking up 20 to 30 elite marks on the way is no big deal for them. For you, it’s just an annoying wait with no upside or shortcut available. Do take advantage of the conversion project if you’re still working on Iconian reputation though.

It helps if you use some of the builds that split sets or use the nukara/romulan gear since they have no elite marks (the romulan engines are awesome). If you’re dead set on a 3-piece of the Omega stuff, then I feel for you.

Do run the hourly project, it gives more dilithium per mark than the 50 mark turn in, plus you’ll pick up a few neural processors here and there. I think it’s a 4 or 5% chance, just based on my own observations. Every little bit helps. Any day you can get two neural processors is one fewer 20-hour cooldown to wait through.

        • GavinRuneblade on 2019-01-30

I play mainly normal queues. Advanced I play if I need something for crafting.

The changes to Advanced Qs is helpful as some of us don’t have friends or fleetmates available to run a private queues.

    I disagree with Kam.

I’m playing to have fun, not as some sort of best that I can be sort of excercise.

If we all played like that, what fun would this be?

Hello Priority One, I enjoyed the prelude. I look forward to finding what happens next at the Priority One Starbase.

I do not really like the idea of failure conditions being removed from advanced queues. In an earlier Priority One podcast I stated my opinion about how this cheapens your victory of cheating death. There are other reasons I disagree.

There have been many times when I have played an Infected Space Advanced where myself and the team have allowed a Nanite Sphere to touch a transformer, ending the mission in failure.

Now let’s go back to the time before Delta Rising when this was known as Infected Space Elite and there was no failure condition. Yes, we completed the mission if a Nanite Sphere touched a transformer, but it took 10 to 20 minutes… just to destroy one transformer.

We are looking at failure conditions like they are something bad. We should be looking at failure conditions as a way of saving us time and fustration when we attempt to do something that we are not yet ready to do.

Now when we fail ISA, we collect our 10 consolation marks and move on (okay, so maybe someone lets out a rude comment, but we don’t have to be around that person for very long). Before, we may have to deal with a series of rude comments from one person, that would eventually start another series of rude comments and at the end everybody dislikes everybody.

Pre DR, when a team realized they were not equipped to complete an elite queue, the only option was to quit the mission and risk a one hour queue lockout. Remove failure conditions and this may start happening again.

I run normal when I PUG it. When I’m on teamspeak with fleetmates I run advance and elite. Because when you PUG it its harder to plan the moves but with fleetmates its easy to do the advance and elite.

Quick thanks to Jake for the foundry in five review. I do enjoy these and it’s good to see an older mission get reviewed.

This may be my favorite opening skit yet. It was very fun. I loved the bit about sending Kenna to the floor where doffs go after being assigned to fleet projects. ^.^

On the community question: I play all three difficulties depending on circumstances, but I don’t queue on my own except during an event. I have friends and fleetmates who only run specific difficulties and when I’m teamed with them I defer to their preference and I have characters who work for all three difficulties so I’ll alt to an appropriate one. I don’t pay attention to rewards in general, though it is nice to get a daily box and some of the crafting boxes sell for ok money on the AH. Changes to rewards and difficulty will not get me to suddenly start queuing on my own, but might change what my friends want to do, and since I follow them it will indirectly change what I do.

Special thanks for the detailed answer on beams vs cannons in the community questions segment. Also, so sad to hear they CANNOT do “lizard spock”. Maybe they can get away with “Rock, Paper, Scisors, Gorn, Spock.” I dunno if that would be different enough though.

I usually stick to the normal queues as I’m only looking for the daily mark bonus package, and I only run advanced and elite queues with fleet mates. Maybe I will give the advanced queues a shot now that the fail conditions have been removed. However I find that when you are pugging the higher difficulty queues, the more the self proclaimed “DPS Elite” team members whine about what the other team members are doing and how they are doing it. This is another reason why I stick mainly to pugging normal difficulty… Gets really tiring to hear the constant complaining or harsh criticism that “You suck. Go back to playing normal mode.”

  25. @SolarSon on 2015-06-15

Hi all! Great show, and welcome Kam and Kenna!
Regarding the queue changes I only play Normal because I’m always getting my a$$ handed to me on Advanced. To this point, I must agree with Kam. Now that I can get elite marks by just keeping up with my pug, there’s no incentive for me to get better as a player. I can’t lie though, we saw this coming. The reputation project where you can get an elite mark for 100 normal marks was the first sign. Even though it took a while, I completed my Dyson proton set without stepping foot into an Advanced queue.
    Keep up the good work!

I sometimes do STFs with the league, sometimes as a pug. Always advanced and always space. I detest anything ground in the game to be honest. I don’t mind the changes provided they introduce elite versions of stfs that don’t have elite. Khitomer Vortex has always been my favorite STF in the game but at present there is no elite for it.

Speaking of builds I only run Shield slammer torp builds.

That to me is fun and I can average 30k dps without too much effort and just have fun. I have worked extensivly with Marhall@odinknight and I am helping him with a project he is working on to do a complete work up on torps.

It really bothers me that when many of the traits get introduced into the game they say “all damage” but inevitably get modified to “energy weapons”. Torps do honestly need to be fixed. 75% damage reduction with 1 point of shields remaining is stupid. It should scale with shield %.

I play Advanced and Elite ques. My main complaint in regards to the pve ques is the crafting rewards balance. I love the ground Elites there is about one of each type of mark and that is the way I get my Elite marks 4 sure. Plus I enjoy ground WAY more than space right now. I am getting tired of the ELITIST attitude about space combat lately. Enough with the DPS peacocking. I REALLY don’t want to hear another episode of P1 about DPS 4 a while. I’m not saying people shouldn’t find out what their DPS is, so they can improve, just quit staring in the mirror at it.

There is no reason why we can’t inform, entertain, and educate all at the same time. There are several listeners that appreciate the information that Jayce & Kam provide. I appreciate your feedback but, no one is forcing you to apply the tips we offer; nor are Kam or Jayce insulting those that don’t. We offer it for people who want to try to improve.

So I have to agree with Canna … Kenna … Kanna ?! (just update the “the team” section with pics and written names and stuff, willya? :D)

But what I really would like to bring to attention is:
There is rarely helpfull stuff stuff on the interwebs for people like me = just hitting endgame.

I have watched hours of youtube videos and have read hundreds of lines of guides like “buy plasmonic leech for 40M”,
or Kam’s vids (thanks Elijah for spelling out his proper Nick in this comments 😀 ,btw)
And I am still like – ok, good, but how do I afford all that?!

My Delta Recruit still uses some MK XII COMMON stuff because nothing better has dropped on all my toons since then.

I am absolutely not putting any blame on you folks, I am just pointing at a general problem I think.
And even more so … well I don’t know the metrics … but if the Delta Recruitment thing has been even farely succesful – there are hundreds or thousands of of players who don’t know shit (And I myself only know shit +1 :D)

Also, once the official forums are back up, try the academy subsection rather than the fleetyards. Much less drama and doom, and the threads are all aimed at newer players, not established min/maxers.
