Caught this one a week late, but great show, thanks for the guest commentary from Sarcasm.

For the rewards on Delta Recruits, the biggest bit I have enjoyed so far is that the reputation and fleet dilithium credits don’t need to be refined, they can be used immediately. That was very nice.

I know this wasn’t a community question but the discussion of skill levels in STFs and that there shouldn’t be two easy levels….

These missions cannot be classified skill levels if “casual players” in normal STFs can’t acquire the elite reputation tokens that are only available in advanced and up missions. It defeats the purpose of a player playing if they can’t gain reputation rewards simply because they’re too “casual” to ever get an elite token to throw at gear to better themselves.

When you tell people they can’t participate in the advanced queues or make the objectives too difficult because 1. The doesn’t have the gear to play or 2. are too “casual” to play the queue to get that gear in the first place you’re slamming the door on a huge section of the community that actually /wants/ to get better.

What reward am I looking forward to the most? THE STORY. I noticed that they had shortened some of the Federation storylines to streamline them, and I think that they work really well.
I wondered what happened to my Delta Recruits if they weren’t ranked up before the end of the event. Thank you for clarifying this for me. My Federation Delta Recruit is L25, and I now plan on starting a KDF and Romulan Delta before the end of the recruiting season as well, to see how they changed THOSE stories.
I don’t really care about the new T6 ships. My older toons all have the maximum of 4 Ship Traits, and they seem to do just fine. I have the ships that I want, and would be more likely to invest in the T6 Command ships than the iconic ones (the odds still approach zero, though).

I love the look of the Andromeda. I am a bit disappointed that there is no gal-x variant this time around. I guess we will have to wait for a t6 gal-x reboot.

I enjoyed the delta recruits. I finished the breen story arc and I felt that the final cut scene was a bit anticlimactic. It feels unfinished at this point. What was the info that we gathered. It feels more like I was being used by the temporal agency.

The rewards in delta recruits is great. I’m currently in the middle of a second toon and preped a third. The KDF is way better then the fed this time. The shorter and numerous arc really plays to that advantage. The Cardassian arc on the fed side needs a serious revamp.

Wonderful episode everyone, great job, love the tech parts with Sarcasm, he is awesome.

Personally i dont think the andromeda needs a 5/3, it turns too slow to use anything but single beams.

I am running 1 (rom/kdf sci) through the delta stuff, when this is written the server is working on tier 2 rewards.

Love the iconic ships, wish the Andromeda was compatible with the gal x (is not, ftr). Now i just have to get the buy the rom one. Not sure i need either of the others.

Can we get this Sarcasm dude to show up whenever we get new ships? I like how he explains pros and cons compared to price.

    Love the show 🙂

I also enjoyed how Cam gave his honest opinions about various aspects of the game without sugar coating it. It is refreshing to hear how top end players actually feel about the game.

Keep up the good work 🙂

Other then a bug at the very last mission of the Defari chain (should be fixed very soon.. no workaround for this one) Delta recruit rocks..

Many advantages to Delta, both to the delta and the owning player.

Very nice very complete package and strongly points out *grin* that all the missions in cardassian space to go in for a make over. And they just don’t quite work RP wise yet for KDF players. The rewards are utterly awesome across the board. Please listeners.. Cryptic not only gave us a way to make new toons, with fun Delta Recruit internal story line, but gave you a great set of head start packages.. My first Delta I focused on a TAC Rom, KDF alligned. My second on is aimed at the games nitty gritty. I am going to see how I can manipulate the delta rewards to eak a bit more advantage for the toon. Should be fun.

Good show, listen to ya next time!

The additional dilithium which is targeted to holdings and reputation is a cool bonus. It’s a nice way encourage support activities in smaller & incomplete fleets. As for progressing, as long as you create a character and receive the temporal tesseract thingy in the tutorial, you complete them at any time.

The rewards were very nice, but the number of bugs and work around in the episodes made the process a little too annoying. Think of it this way – if the intent was to introduce STO to a new and larger audience – their first experience was new bugs in 5 year old content.

The revised Icon T6 ships – I did buy the set. Having a viable Galaxy Class and DD has turned out to be a lot of fun. In terms of ships ‘abilities’ most come across as being gimmicky, BUT actually playing with these ships and feeling that they can be competitive – that was a nice change.

But were they worth it? The Command ships are a much better option in terms of capability and set options. Even better yet I still think the Guardian is a better successor to the original Galaxy. Was I disappointed in the purchase? Nah, I just wanted a better version of the DD and Galaxy.

And someone please give Sarcasm something for his sore throat;)

The Delta Recruit event actually gave me the opportunity to play an engineer for the first time. Being a healer tank is a complete gameplay shift from being a tatical DPS escort.

  17. wardcalis on 2015-04-06

Also quick rant. Why are all the ships with command seating heavy, slow, bulky hulks with almost no base maneuverability? I really wish we had something destroyer size (4/3 or 5/2) that had access to ltcmdr command powers.

  18. wardcalis on 2015-04-06

For the new t6 ships I have to say I am simultaneously very excited and disappointed. The D’Deridex is the largest reason I fell in love with the Romulans when watching TNG, and the ability to effectively use one tier 6 is awesome. I am however very disappointed at its stats. Its turn is slower than the actual D’Deridex sporting a crappy 5turn vs the 5.5 of its processor. It also has only 3 tact consoles I had hoped something labeled a battle cruiser would at least have 4. The 4/4 wep layout is expected but I still wish it was a 5/3. If this ship had 4 tact consoles and better turn I’d use it. I honestly hope that turn rate is a bug or an oversight. 5.0 turn is very very low. Have to waste 1/2 your consoles just about to make cannons or torp builds work for it.

Although I’m a huge Luna fan, when I originally came to play this game’s Closed Beta, the ship I dreamed about flying was the Galaxy-class.

Alas, the T4 Galaxy then was a major disappointment; the first higher level ship I obtained that actually felt like a downgrade (by contrast, I had tons of fun with my Stargazer-class).

When launch day came, I tossed my engineer captain aside in favor of making my Betazoid science bridge officer my new captain (plus, she was hot).

The T6 Galaxy largely redeems what had once been a major disappointment. With the Delta Recruit event going on, I decided to revive my first ever engineering captain and give her the ship I always wanted her to have.

I’m playing it right now, and even though I’ll acknowledge it’s not quite so superior as other recent offering, I can make her work pretty well. She’s very fun to fly now. 🙂

I am really enjoying the new delta recruits event. I am playing two new characters: one solo, and one with a friend as a romulan…(never did the romulan story arc before) It seems apt, because I get to go through some of the Enterprise story arcs with him… ya know, the races involved and the time travel plot; and he enjoys it.

On another note I still think cryptic should give us the option of a tier 6 module… Hear me out. I have a t5u Xindi aquatic carrier, but now that intel, command, and soon pilot ships will soon be out, I think that they should give the option of at least a general upgrade module. One that If purchased, upgrades your ship with the three specialization stations, but the ship you purchase it for can have only one active at a time. and as a bonus the ship would be a tier 6… I don’t know, maybe I’m just rambling.
