Topics Discussed

This Week’s Community Questions

  • Are features like hot-swappable ships, access to exchanges and banks in personal ships, and other conveniences killing Social Zones? If so, what ideas do YOU have to attract players back to Earth Spacedock, Qu’onos — anywhere else!
  • What do you think of the in-game event revamp? Did you make an effort to get in and play through an event? Was it any more worth it than the usual hourly events? What changes, if any, would you like to see from these events to make them more enticing?

yeah, if they ever decide to make Cardassians a mini playable race or do a similar thing to the Romulans with them;it would make a great base story. They could Elim Garak as your main contact.

Would love to have Ferengi as a mini playable race and all missions based on exploiting others for profit. A Ferengi reputation rewards would be interesting with the goal to acquire your own bar, dabo girls as rewards, the lobe of the Grand Nagus. Missions could be in all quadrants too including the use of the unstable wormhole to the Delta quadrant lol

    @strommwind, great idea.

Would definately like to see more locations opened up. Bajor, Andoria, and Vulcan could be expanded much more like with New Romulus. Maybe a new Fed episode could be the rebuilding of Betazoid post Dominion war.

    • @strommwind on 2014-02-11

might be interesting to see something on cardassia too. if u remember that planet really suffered during the dominion war

you metioned social games in this episode. i think something like velocity or the phaser range thing that u saw several times in TNG might be interesting to do, shooter mode would lend itself to something like that i think, and i thing it is something touraments could be used for with the prizes being gear or dilithium maybe

The grind wouldn’t be so bad if there was more then just the mini q game. Let’s get multiple games at multiple locations (andoria, bajor, etc.) in future aniversaries.

The player run-initiated-driven game that I would spend (at least 15 minutes on), would absolutely be Romulan Star Empire/Reman Resistance themed.

p.s. Will the 2nd RP Roundtable be held anytime soon? I roleplay almost constantly in S.T.O. and have not heard anything about it.

  10. T'maekh on 2014-02-06

Wondering if the Romulans will eventually become independent and recall playable characters from their Fed or KDF alliance choice? Just doesn’t sit right having Romulans fighting against each other because they are allied to opposing empires when they’re attempting to rebuild the Romulan Empire.

Also, wondering if there’ll be new races introduced for the Romulans such as the Garidians a Romulan off-shoot seen in the TNG game Final Unity? I still feel the Chodak should make a return and the major revelation that they were the ones that originally defeated the Iconians at great expense to their own empire – but now the Chodak possess the unity device again creating an opportunity to destroy the Iconians once and for all.

    • BLTrrn on 2014-02-07

An independent Republic/Star Empire would be really awesome. Great idea with the Chodak btw.

Well I don’t really mind the grind for the ship, if only it wasn’t so boring. I mean having to watch the damn Qs running through those presents is just a strain on my eyes, no fun whatsoever. And the run-away Qs run away too fast, so if you’re a slow-starter you’re fracked. Also once their escape counter goes up to 2/3rds they escape automatically, so you’re stumped and frustrated again.
So all-in-all if they made a good, fun grind people wouldn’t be so dissapointed, but this way it’s meh.

  14. Decker73 on 2014-02-06

Great episode guys. I’ve loved all the interviews you’ve been having over the past couple of weeks.

I don’t think that a 12 mile range weapon will be that much of a game breaker. It will be great against immobile targets such as the Borg Gates and the minefields and turrets found in some of the PVE missions, but against a moving target you’ll probably only be able to maintain that range for one shot. If it can go in an aft weapon slot that would be different though.

The grind for the Dyson science destroyers becomes more of a grind the more characters you put through it. I have 14 characters, but only one who I feel is a good fit for the ship. I’ll be grinding the ship for one character, but for the rest I only do the party patrol if I’m in the mood. With many of them I’m going to get the 400 Qmendations from the featured episode and sit on them until next year.

Great job requesting the “Claim Console” button. From Steven D’Angelo’s reaction it sounds like we have a good chance of actually getting it. I hope they expand it to include items like the Wide Angle Quantum Torpedo Launcher on the Regent Class.

    DOOOM.
The end are coming. The doomthreads will never end. We will continue our hard Work getting people to acknowledge that they will eventually die.
Oh. Not those doom threads… Well those can be without.
The new grind, however short (or -long- for some), are in general boring. First try was fun and exiting, second was a Little less of all and third time just makes it even less. It’s not that imaginairy that I hoped it would be and the random map generator could use a Little Work on making it more random. Six times same mission are not fun, hoping for a change everybody else talking about.
The FED version ship are, Again, less visually pleasant to look at considering the counterparts. The FED design are grown to the Cryptic teams backbone and it’s kinda sad when the KDF and Romulan can have more alterations to the designs.
Awaiting episode 9, but dreads the same bored year 5 grind as 4.

Intresting how zone like the borg invastion zone bugs were not adressed with our new XO.

I hate the new ships. I when I look at it all I think of is Ori or Destiny ships with a small bit of Geth thrown in. It great mechanical wise but what is the point of having a great ship mechanical wise if you can’t stand looking at it?

  21. rootadin on 2014-02-04

I did not find a grind, since I just before christmas got “free” lobi that I have used to get the ship on 3 chars. And I still have 144 lobi left.

In answer to this weeks Community Question, I understand the grind for this years, literally, game-altering anniversary ship. the only issue I have is…

What happens when next years anniversary ship isn’t the next ground-breaking game mechanic? What happens when it’s another powerless “Lets fly the Ambassador” Feature Episode…

Will they expect me to grind these Q-mendations again? If so, it’s a no-go. I simply will not run what is, no matter the time, technically a grind to achieve something that in 2 months will have a C-store or fleet variant than can just be bought outright.

I think putting anniversary items into another event reputation and yet another currency is more taxing on server storage(and my bank)than just having us run a mission like with Temporal Ambassador or Sphere Of Influence… I’m also dismayed by the lack of this kind of foresight by the devs.

But hey… Cryptic thinks in mysterious ways.
