Another way to pick up some extra DOFFs utilizes Refugees DOFFs. There are various Asylum DOFFs missions in certain sectors that require a refugee and award a different DOFF in return. If you crit, you end up replacing that refugee for a new DOFF that is of a higher quality, which can then be exchanged for multiple white DOFFs to contribute to fleet projects.

Ha..I just watched the DOFF grinding tutorial and see there is a personnel officer at starfleet academy that offers the same missions as the one on the fleet starbase 🙂

I’m a bit late to this episode, but when it comes to doff farming, I’m surprised I have not seen anyone talk about the Personnel Officer on the fleet starbase. If you talk to him and choose the Submit Request For Personnel option, you can select 5 DOFF missions which supply 2 or 3 white or green DOFFs upon completion. The missions take 48 hours to ocmplete and have a long cool down, which means you can only run them once a week, but it’s a good way to pick up 10-15 free doffs. One of the missions also rewards a Officer Junior Cadre pack, which gives multiple DOFFs upon opening. This mission does cost 1,000 dilithium, however. The Personnel Officer can also exchange higher level DOFFs for lower level ones.

To Elijah and Jake; Gentlemen what an excellent tour de force you guys did at the Engage podcast ! Clear, unabashed and honest you represented the game and us players – Thank you for that !

CQ1 – Sure, if only as a short cameo, I’d like to see Shattner reprise his role, warts and all – as long as it is relevant to the story !
CQ1 – Yes some KDF dilithium projects are lagging. Solution: take your time. It’s a journey, not a race.

    Great episode, as always P1.

    Hello Kenna,

I enjoyed the previous P1 podcast, but I was saddened that you still prefer to play solo as you feel uncomfortable teaming up or joining (random) groups. Of course you’re free to play the game (or any game) the way you like, but I’d hate to see you having to miss out on one of the fun parts of the MMO part that is core to STO.
I’m most surprised that you’re not even comfortable to join your own fleet for joint runs – at least that’s how I understood your comments. This is something that really irks me, as that’s where your fleet/armada leader should have slammed the hammer down.

As a happily married father of a teenage daughter who only has female toons in STO (as it’s the only time women will actually listen to me 🙂 ), I’m sometimes surprised by the comments I receive in game on my otherwise tastefully dressed toons (my wife’s touch), which is odd because pretty much 90% of ALL female toons in STO have a guy pulling their strings. You’d think those knuckleheads would’ve realized that by now.

As a fleet leader I consider it my Number One job to make sure my fleet members have a safe and friendly environment to play in, and I’m proud that over the years the 44th has been a home for players of all makes and models, including mums and dads who brought their kids with them so they could play together, and team up with players from all over the world. Sure, sometimes someone will F-bomb chat because of a Pug that (redacted) or (redacted) and then (redacted), but overal any Serious Big Boss interventions are extremely rare (once a year?). A well-behaved guild attracts well-behaved players, and I consider this one of the reasons my fleet has been active since 2009. I don’t care if a player is male, female, LGBT, novice, veteran, free2play or a Ferengi who owns his own moon – all I care about is that players behave and are fun to hang out with.

Please understand that I’m not trying to brag, show off or recruit, but it simply irks me from here to Cardassia, that especially in a Star Trek game with its open and accepting culture some players still aren’t comfortable to join in on the fun. Channnel moderation, selective membership (a quick Google or STO forum history check of a prospective member) and a two-week probation period are some simple and easy ways to create and maintain a fun group which can then be run by the players themselves, with little oversight. Just sitting back and seeing a group of basically strangers from all over the world work together in an amiable environment is something that gives me great pride and satisfaction. Well that and bashing Borg.

If you ever would like to join a good group, you have a standing invitation to join the 44th on raids, STFs or any Romulan Ale drinking games.
Sorry for the rant, but I needed to get this out of my system.

    Cheers,
    Marcase

      Hi Marcase,

Thank you so much for what you said! Me wanting to play alone is actually a separate issue from having had bad experiences in gaming in the past…Star Trek is just very personal for me, my own little fantasy world, so I prefer to play STO on my own. When I’m up for social time, I’m usually in the P1 Teamspeak and I actually quite like doing battlezones with my other fleeties.

It’s really only zone chat that I steer away from in STO, and I generally ignore friend requests from randoms on Earth Spacedock. On the whole, I feel pretty comfortable in STO, otherwise I wouldn’t have stuck around for so long 🙂

In regards to the Fleet projects.

This is for a long time a problem and comes to me as a surprise that it took that long for the Priority One Armada/Fleet to be affected by it.

In regards to Dilithium there is only one option that would make sense and scale well with every Fleet Size and that is to remove all Dilithium costs from Fleet Projects.

If there is still need for a Dilithium sink via Fleets add either Quick run Projects that only cost Dilithium and/or adjust the gear cost.

Thank you for the wonderful shows for all of these years. I have been especially enjoying Winter’s weekly tips, even though I have been playing for years.
cq1: The only thing I could imagine Shatner doing in a new movie would be a role as an Academy Instructor, where he would not necessarily have to be serious and uptight.
cq2: I also buy the uncommon DOFFs and exchange them along with the ones I get from DOFF missions (either at the Academy or the Starbase). Additionally, I grind ALL of my characters EVERY weekend doing the Academy recruitment DOFF missions. FInally, keep in mind every time ‘Hearts and Minds’ comes long you can get 9 common DOFFs from one rare DOFF. For Dilithium, I just suck it up and donate some every time each character logs in; I consider it the price for participating in several great Armadas!

cq1) Not just no, not just hell no, **** NO!!!

cq2) Right now our kdf fleet is stuck on part of k13 because of the 860 doffs,it is horrible.

    Wonderful show everyone.

In regards to the issue of fleet only dilithium in STO I have recently discovered a trick. Not sure if your other listeners know about this and I am repeating them. In the dilithium mine in the Vlugta asteroid field there is a vendor who sells EV suits. That vendor has a secondary tab where you can exchange rich dilithium claims for either 2500 reputation dilithium vouchers or 2500 fleet dilithium vouchers. So if you have a surplus of claims you can start exchanging them en masse for a lit of fleet only dilithium.
