Elio is a Northern New Jersey Cuban-American and graduate of Kean University, having earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance in 2011. I do hope that Star Trek will expand its universe a bit more than a crew on a ship type shows. I thought a direct to DVD type movies would be a balance of a film and TV show at a reasonable cost kinda like Stargate Ark of Truth and Stargate Continuum. It would allow for some of crew to go on adventures without the pressure to make 500 million per flick. It could be distributed with CBS All Access or Netflix.
I know CBS will probably never do it because they only like Star Trek in its big show form or movies.

I do hope that Star Trek will expand its universe a bit more than a crew on a ship type shows. It would allow for some of crew to go on adventures without the pressure to make 500 million per flick. It could be distributed with CBS All Access or Netflix.

Question #1: I would love a more-richly interlinked Star Trek Cineverse! Imagine Roberta Lincoln in a series similar to “Agent Carter”! I can feel the sheer pulpiness of “Commander Kor”, as he pillages and plunders the Beta Quadrant. I bet you could even do a movie about Garth of Izar…
Question #2: “Family Values” are not the same as in the 60’s. My teen daughter watches the Walking Dead, and got a great laugh out of the scene in the dorm with Kirk and the Orion Cadet from the first JJVerse movie. If “Game of Thrones” is watched by kids, then there is not much left.

Star Trek Cinematic Universe: Hell yes. But I agree, kill the Kelvin timeline and set it in the Primeverse. I for one would love the idea of a Sulu movie, especially if it’s partially during his time as captain of the Excelsior.

* Well there already was/is a ST Cinematic Universe; TOS, TNG, DS9, Voy – I could live with a tv-series based on characters from all those shows (finally a ‘dream bridge crew’?).
* About Trek staying Family Friendly; you can argue that all Trek is/should be family friendly since all ‘bad things’ have been abolished in Gene Roddenberry’s Utopian version of Trek, including swearing/name-calling. Yes, it would be boring, humans being humans.
But we need a ‘grittier’ Trek which, as a European fan, I can appreciate and relate to a bit more.
