Elio is a Northern New Jersey Cuban-American and graduate of Kean University, having earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance in 2011. He has performed in internationally renowned performance halls such as Avery Fisher Hall with the New York Philharmonic, as a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, and in Beijing, China as a representative for Kean University. I’m curious, Zach. There typically is a sound effect or 2 running in the background of the podcast. As a listener, I kinda appreciate it, it makes it sound like they are on a starship, but the music during the segment you mentioned was… more. Does they typical stuff they do bother you, or was the threshold that I, as someone without a hearing impairment, noticed?
Besides my general curiosity, this might help when they mix sound for future episodes. On a personal note, while I had no troubles HEARING that segment, I did find the music a bit distracting, now that I’m thinking about it.

The anniversary event Is usually one of those times when people who have taken a break from the game will come back and see what’s new. My fleet and I will be taking advantage of the event by doing recruiting as well as general gaming together in order to get our numbers up and get ourselves back to where we once were. As for Lonely Among Us, I think that while the entity did seam to have control of Picard’s actions, there must have been some part of him that was somewhat aware of what was going on and was interested in what the entity could offer since Picard is an explorer after all, but the entity did seam to have most of the control since Picard would never have consciously made the decision to just abandon his ship and his crew.

(1) Do you or your fleet have anything special planned to mark this year’s anniversary event in Star Trek Online?
For myself, nothing too special planned at the moment. A few friends will likely join me in Iowa to see Star Trek Beyond and then we’ll take a drive down to see Kirk’s Future Birth Place. The rest of the time will probably be spent playing Star Trek Catan and other Trek-themed games.
As for the fleet, you tell me. Is Priority One planning anything special? Maybe a tournament of some sort, or some contests? I think it might be interesting to setup some guidelines and have listeners submit story ideas for Foundry missions which can be voted on and then a group of volunteers can go build.

I have to confess I am a bit annoyed and I finally reached a point I have to express the annoyance. Your audio folks should think about those who are hearing impaired. For example, with the Doctor Robert segment you have a music/ humming audio in the background as the Doctor is talking. The background audio is too loud and mixes with the Doctors voice. As a result I missed much of what the Doctor was saying. This happens a lot with tv and movies as well. Little thought is given to those who are hearing and or visually impaired. Please keep this is mind in your future episodes and lower the volume of background music/audio sounds. Thank you.

Hello Zach – We appreciate your feedback. We endeavor to do our best in providing a quality audio experience for everyone and appreciate your comparison to TV and Film. We hope you’ll remain patient with us as we are not paid professionals but, instead, volunteers that have virtually taught ourselves how to podcast from start to finish. Many – if not all – of our audio editors have full-time jobs and/or family. Many have also picked up the skill by teaching themselves via YouTube/Online Tutorials just so they could volunteer for this show. Also, because we are not centralized in a studio, many of the voices you hear are recorded on varying pieces of audio equipment and our team does their best to equalize the various tracks from week to week. We hope you’ll hang in there from week to week and continue to support this volunteer production with your patience and understanding as we do our best to provide a professional-level labor of love.

Thanks for the reply Elijah. I know everyone is doing this as volunteers and the work is most appreciated. Professionals are suppose to be aware of those with hearing issues and produce quality sound, but they still managed to have background sounds/music that drowns out or muffles what someone is saying. Drives me nuts.
This has happened on the podcast a lot and I have moved right along and said nothing and as a result I have missed out on segments, some of whom I was really interested in. I really wanted to hear what the doctor had to say but could not and that was enough for me to come forward and let you all know that your background audio can, does and has overwhelmed the speaker. Those without hearing issues probably have no issues.
Yes I plan to hang in there..

To answer Elijah’s question of IPA or Lager with Selay: probably “tastes like chicken,” so definitely the IPA.
