Thanks for another great show! I loved the discussion of cross-faction possibilities. I also appreciated how you got Gecko talking about the “why” of things.

On the dil cap, I have said many times and will say again, raising it will have the opposite effect from what everyone who asks for it to go up wants. People who don’t have enough dilithium for their own goals want the cap raised so they can buy more stuff. However, this will cause inflation and the price of zen will get “worse”. And any new dilithium sink the developers introduce will end up with higher prices to take the dilithium away again.

It is a short term fix for a long-term problem, that leaves the problem worse down the line.

The truth is the existing dilithium sinks are not expensive enough. When dilithium was really “in demand” the price of zen was 130 dil for 1 zen. Now we’re way over 200 dil for 1 zen because dil is in far lower demand now and zen is in far higher demand now.

To get the zen ratio down we need more expensive fleet projects, more expensive upgrade kits, more expensive dilithium ships etc.

The request to make dilithium worth more when donated to fleets is a really great idea because that gets the biggest dilithium sink in the game to work better. It pulls dilithium out of the economy and rewards people in another format. If Gecko does change the fleet credit ratio then it would almost certainly drop the price of zen significantly.

As for my prediction for the story, looking at time travel and the temporal cold war, I’m guessing we get a new chroniton weapon set. I’m guessing the sphere builders are not the new “big bad” that Gecko talked about. I predict that just like the undine infiltration of the federation was just a trick and the real villains were the iconians, we’ll find that the new “big bad” tricked the sphere builders into attacking the federation, and that faction has also tricked multiple factions into the cold war to weaken them all.

I’m not sure yet who that might be, but that’s my prediction how it goes.

You want a wild prediction. OK, here goes. We’ll meet Ezri Dax. Because I predict during the next year’s story that we won’t just be having time travelers come to us. We’ll be going back (maybe forward) in time. Doing so is a great way to encounter familiar settings from pre-TNG shows and give an opportunity for TOS and ENT era actors come in. And what if we meet Ezri Dax and she tells us that earlier versions of Dax met us in earlier times? The Dax symbiont is older than the Federation. All the incarnations are known with set personalities, but most have no set appearance or voice. (Except for maybe a picture in a database, which could be approximated or ignored). If we met Lela Dax, the first host, in the 22nd century and convinced her we were from the future, we could have an ally in different Daxes in different points of history. An ally we wouldn’t have to convince about our being time travelers, which would save story-telling time and make things less repetitive.

Especially interesting would be meeting Tobin Dax, the second host, if Cryptic were to license the USS Pioneer from some post-Enterprise novels. In those series, Tobin Dax was Chief Engineer on the early Federation vessel, USS Pioneer. The Captain was Malcolm Reed, the First Officer Travis Mayweather, and the Ship’s Historian a fellow named Samuel Abraham Kirk. This would take negotiating and money, I know. But that ship has great potential for a temporal cold war story. Most of this, if it happens, would be post-Season 11. But meeting Captain Ezri Dax on the Vesta would be a great start.

here’s what i think will happen. we track the tholians warp trail and find them. however, the Tox Uthat isn’t the only thing that the tholians stole from Kal Dano’s ship. they also have schematics for creating a temporal vortex. the tholians create one and go back to the 22nd century to destroy our sun. with earth destroyed, the federation will never be created and the tholians will have free reign over the alpha quadrant. we follow them back through the vortex and stop them once and for all. we retrieve the Tox UThat and hide it on Risa for captain picard to find in the 24th century. just after we hide the Uthat, a temporal rift opens and a 29th century timeship emerges. we are hailed by a very furious captain braxton who demands that we follow him back through the rift. however, upon examination of the historical database, we discover one of Seven of Nine’s personal logs in which she mentions the fact that braxton was arrested for attempting to alter the timeline by destroying voyager. We confront the being that appears to be braxton, but he transforms into his true form, a genetically enhanced suliban. the suliban fires on both our ship and Kal Dano’s with a subatomic disruptor and we are unable to maneuver. Kal Dano’s ship is heavily damaged. he dies and his ship is thrown to the location where the NX-01 crew will find it. Daniels appears in a ship of his own to save us and take the sultan into custody. Daniels then transports us back to our own time and the time stream is exactly as it should be.

Woohoo! Finally, a new Star Trek series is in development!

So my speculation for Season 11’s story. I’m not really sure where it will be going, but I do have some questions that I want answered as the story progresses.

Who is the Terran Empire’s benefactor from the future?

Why did the Prophets want us to return the Pah-Wraiths Orb?

As I was writing this, I now wonder if perhaps Mirror Kal Dano is the Terran Empire’s benefactor.

Yay! New Star Trek series in development. Will you do a special podcast where you speculate what the series could be about and mention what you would like to be in it. Maybe you could even invite some STO staff to guest host and speculate with you.

Re: new specializations. There should be a Wesley Crusher themed specialization, maybe called Prodigy or Young Acting Ensign or something. You can make goofy inventions that significantly alter the ship’s functions and you’re a wizard with a tricorder, but occasionally your powers catastrophically fail or you randomly make awkward emotes. And when you spend all 30 points, you have to leave your ship for Starfleet Academy.

Wow what a great ep! So much to cover and talk about!

so here is my general feed back first.

Rise the dil cap worries me. the system is not perfect i know but i think its too open for it to be taken advantage of. You think they changed the delta rewards last week to 20 was for no reason? The dil price is so high now, add more Dil just makes it worse.

As for the story, here what I say will happen.

Kal Dano and us will travel back in time to the 22nd century to Risa where will hide the Tox Uthat.

On our way back we are attack by the big bad.

Kal Dano dies and body is stuck in the 22nd where the Enterprise NX find the ship and his body (just like in the show, Ent: Future Tense). This is confirmed as Kal Dano has Human and Vulcan DNA as we discovered and already has been discovered by with Dr. Phlox in the episode itself.

We in the future are saved by Daniels who beams the ship and Kal Dano’s body to the future. He tells us that Kal Dano is died but is not fated to died at this point in time.

We are able to restore his body with 31 century tec but Daniels has trouble with the time-ship and it is creating temporal incursions through the timeline which he sends us to fix!

We then continue it and meet several Captains from the through the timeline for the 50 anniversary of the show and 6 years of Sto!

Now that i have written that. I will feel very disappointed if we dont get something really cool for the 50 and 6 years ann of star trek and STO!
