CQ1)The new movie will be better than into darkness, will it be trek, not sure.
CQ2) Im hopeful that the new ones will be worth the loss.
CQ3)Well certainly nothing else has made me feel the need to do foundry missions, unless some author i particularly enjoy makes one.
As long as all skills are available for training the new boff training system will be wonderful, some people are saying though that on tribble some manual are missing.
Cookie did not know who Moriarty was *grumbling about people no longer reading the classics*?
Thanks Thomas for dropping by, great show everyone.

I know who he is now!!! Just not years ago when I first saw the episode. But I still haven’t read the books in any case so you can still grumble I guess if you want hehe.
seannewboy on 2015-01-30
I even put an app, that is just those stories, on my iphone. They are one set of classics, that have really stood the test of time. Not like Moby Dick and Dracula *yawn*.

I’m confident that Simon Pegg will be able to help write an excellent third instalment. A few reasons for this:
1) It takes an intelligent person to create excellent comedy like he does, the smartest comedy writers know how to balance comedy with the drama to get the best effect. When writing something of a more serious tone with some light hearted scenes and lines, he will be able to bring out the best parts just as easily. I think he is too smart to write a Star Trek version of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (which is what it would be if you mix Trek and comedy)
2) He can write from an actors point of view. I work in the TV industry with actors and I have heard too many times to mention, that a writer has written something that isn’t within their character. Something that sounds good in a writers head, is not necessarily acted out aloud just as well by a different actor, particularly if written by a writer with no acting experience.
3) He is a Trekkie that has no doubt noticed other Trekkies opinions of the last two films.
On another note I’m all for the Foundry missions being added to planets in sector space. It will make me feel I am exploring more and will no doubt bring some great Foundry missions to the surface that have been buried in the search system of the Foundry.

Even though I wont miss the old Romulan missions much, I still think those with no replacement should stay. New or revamped missions are always nice, but on the other hand, I’m pretty sure I would still have enjoyed them if I had played them for the first time today, even if they’re not as high quality as new missions.
I wont start exploring sector space just to play foundry missions, but I may definately try foundry missions if I come across them in sector space while I’m there anyway. Adding foundry missions to sector space is a step in the right direction, but to me, to really explore is to go off the known map. If they could let us do that, having us encounter foundry missions while going off into the unknown, it might enrich the experience.

I believe Simon Peg will do an adequate job. He seems to have a great understanding of what makes franchises like Star Trek great. While I think we may see more character story and humor interwoven I think he will purposefully add in some Trek style philosophy simply because he is aware its an ingredient for Star Treks success.
The old Romulan missions were a bit of a let down. That was back when it either took hours to complete a mission (due to just map transfers and running and clicking). While we may be doing away with 14 low quality missions were replacing them with new Legacy of Romulus era fantastic ones that play as featured episodes with the return of Denise Crosby. There are also new unique rewards. That’s a fair trade for content no one plays, remembers or even liked.
The foundrys new system is exactly what this game has needed for years. A way to randomly stumble upon content. It takes the same old worlds we fly by and transforms them into the strange new worlds we’ve always wanted. Having played many foundry missions particularly the top rated ones I feel the player base who have never delved into the foundry are in for a real treat. The STO foundry community have some top notch talent. I only hope this inspires precious authors to create more missions and create a new batch of authors as well.

Simon Pegg is gonna make the best reboot movie so far, I predict. I think it will have some very funny parts, but be more serious than something like Shaun of the Dead. In Hot Fuzz, he demonstrated his ability to recognize the tropes in movies like Bad Boys and Point Break and use them to good effect. I think he’ll do the same with the previous Trek films to make it have that Trek film feel.
Regarding the exploration changes, anything that gets people to play more Foundry missions is a good thing so the entire system can get the resourcing it deserves.
That tune at the very end was absolutely awesome!

Hi guys, love the show. Just started listening, but I love what I’ve head in the last few episodes!
1. Honestly, I think Simon Peggy will do a good job with Star Trek. He’s a self-proclaimed Trekkie, so i’ll give him the benefit of the doubt here.
2. I like that The Romulan Mystery is getting revamped! I was never a fan of the old episodes (in that chain) anyway, so I’m excited to see how they replace it, plus the overall quality of the episodes have improved so much, so I’d love to see what they do with this.
3.I LOVE the new Foundry Top 3 idea! If there’s a piece of Trek STO is missing, it’s the exploration side, so I’d love to have more mission choices in sector space that would allow for exploration!

My expectations went up when Orci left the production. While there are great moments on both movies, they dropped the ball with Into Darkness. Great actors, an amazing IP and they chose to redo one of the most beloved movies in the franchise. And they botched it.
Simon Pegg is a decent writer and certainly knows the materials. At the very least it’s gonna be funny with a big heart.

I have no problem with the J-J verse, I see them more as good Sci-fi action movies.
Star trek is not meant for the big screen, it is made to be on TV once every week telling stories, not one epic one on the big screen every third year.
Simon Pegg might do a good job, but overall, my expectation is to bring a new TV-series.

I’m not sure there’s anything left to lose with the Star Trek reboot franchise. The first movie was decent, but it wasn’t good Trek. Into Darkness, on the other hand, was an abortion. Terrible Trek, terrible film. I have zero investment at this point.
The_Grand_Nagus on 2015-01-26
Some people might think this is silly, but one of the biggest reasons I think removing these episodes is such a bad idea is the fact that STO is pretty much carrying the torch of Trek storytelling in the original timeline now that we have the JJ-verse. And even if these episodes weren’t fantastic, they were part of that story.
Like I said earlier, a lot of episodes of Trek weren’t that great. And sometimes the stories told in later episodes didn’t perfectly fit with the stories that had been told before. But that doesn’t mean those episodes should be removed when the shows come out on DVD. It’s one thing to nix an idea before it gets made, but once it’s actually been made its part of the Trek story.
I just hate seeing these little adventures, mediocre as they may be, being torn out of existence in the story of Trek. But hey, who cares. Its just a video game, right?
The_Grand_Nagus on 2015-01-27
And just to be clear:
Revamping/Remastering existing missions: Great!
Adding brand new missions with celeb VO: Great!
But those are a completely separate issue from what I discussed above. Dont kill part of the game’s story, just keep adding more to it!
