I am not sure that I really want anything ell but as always as soon as it is out there will be something in the new lockbox that I will want. I usually pick up 10 keys and that is my limit for any new lockbox that comes out.
As for any of the old ones my fleet has an entire bank holding page just for lockboxes so at any time we can go back and open something from the past.

I have already picked up many different types of lock boxes from this event, due in part to my blunder of farming a set of resonant disruptor arrays when you can only equip one, running Blood of the Ancients. I however have no plans to open any of them as the Zen/EC cost of a lockbox key is ridiculous.

Seeing as how the Alliance has not defeated the Heralds and Iconians yet, I can say it won’t be a Herald or Iconian lockbox. A Krenim lockbox would be nice, but since our relationship with them is relatively new and we are getting fleet stuff with them, this is also highly unlikely. My best guess would perhaps be a Xindi-Avian lockbox with stuff geared towards the new Pilot specialization and a weapon that has an interesting maneuver inhibiting proc.

As a side note, I think with all the work Cryptic has put into “normalizing” rewards across the different missions types and difficulties, this same normalization process should be applied to the upgrade costs of all items in the game. It should not cost me an arm and a leg to upgrade a reputation item to Mk XIV Ultra Rare when I can get to the same level/rarity with a similar non-reputation item for FAR less. I do understand that some of these items are superior to their non-reputation counterparts, however we have already paid a premium price for them through completing the daily rep projects, item creation project, or a high dilithium cost in the rep store. I feel we are getting “double taxed” when it comes to upgrading these items, and it should be changed.

i will not be trying to open lockboxes during this event. but out of all of the current lockboxes, i would be most interested in opening the Cardassian lockbox to try and get a Cardassian galor, but i know that probably won’t happen. As for the next lockbox, i’m betting it will be a Krenim lockbox with the grand prize inside it being Annorax’s time ship and the ship purchasable through the lobi store being a krenim warship. there will probably be krenim doff packs and i bet that the officers within these packs would have powers to reduce the cooldown time on some boff abilities or give your projectile or energy weapons some bonus shield penetration. If my prediction does indeed become a reality, this will be the first lockbox that i actually invest in.

    Dmg is the new CrtD?

IIRC, Borticus said in a reddit post that CrtD would slightly edge out the Dmg mod in the end, but not anywhere near their current disparity. However I will agree with Kam that further testing now and after implementation will be needed to determine the true difference.

The obvious solution to the ever-changing mods (first ACCx3, now CrtDx3, tomorrow…?) is to slim down the mods to only three; Acc, CrtX (energy?) and Dmg (kinetic?).

I do like that DMG get’s a boost; Fleet weapons are mostly ACC and DMG, and considering the HUGE investments made by fleets to unlock those the payoff was a Targ pancake – in hindsight you could just invest in the current crafted weapons, even with random Mods.

As a rule I rarely open boxes, but I actually might open the new Krenim ones; with the lower tier prizes removed or upgraded, the drops may be a bit more interesting, and not a turn-off if you open 10 and only get like 10 doff mini-packs.

Regarding the Fleet Armada; I’m very protective of my fleet and my fleet members trust their leadership to make the right decision, meaning a drama-free fun, gaming environment.

That’s why I’m waiting a few days before joining any Armada because our intrepid Cpt Geko made two comments that made me a bit apprehensive.

First that there will be inter-fleet drama with fleets fighting over the Alpha position – no interest in joining that. Secondly that any fleet can leave an Armada at will so let’s say a Beta fleet may take off and take one of my ‘child’ fleets with them, effectively breaking up my own inter-fleet cohesion that works well as is (granted we have the luxury of being able to form our own tiered Armada).

I’m pretty sure I’m overstating the pending doom and gloom, but untill I’m sure I’ll be observing like a cloaked Romulan T’Varo waiting when the time is right for my fleet, before joining the Armada fray.

Again a great show, lots of info from Al Riviera. Good stuff !

Salutations P1 , Thanks for the interviews with AL , ive been Posting the Podcast to the rest of My Sector 31 A.N.T.K.B. fleetmates, for the great information the post cast provides.
as for the Lockboxes I might open one or 2 but most of those items i buy from the exchange that i can afford ,because my luck in opening boxes is sketchy at best .
keep up the great work , was good to have Cookie back .

I’m with Que I open just a few lock boxes now and then but I do it for the Lobi crystals to get something not found in the exchange. My luck with boxes is sketchy also. For most previous boxes they use to have the item drop rate averages for us to see, the odds of winning a ship is about 1 in 200. So unlucky players have spend over $200 for the ship and even then its no guarantee. It is much more cost effective to just get the stuff from the exchange or a trade channel.

I also think cryptic should raise the amount of lobi that comes from the boxes. The avg is 5 lobi per box and that should be raised to at least 10. At an avg of 5 per box that means for a 900 lobi crystal ship it takes about 180 boxes worth of lobi and that equals $225 in keys. Are these lock box and lobi store ships worth that much money when c-store ships are 25-30$?

I will not be opening up any old boxes nor any boxes. It’s not because I am against the boxes, it is because I believed I used all my luck to win a D’kora and a Wells in only five boxes.
