Beam Aboard!

Much like Community Theatre, Priority One is a weekly production that is entirely produced by a team of volunteers! Not a single member of the team earns an income for their contributions. We’re seeking volunteers from diverse backgrounds and with various points of view to fill several positions. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Non-Binary Community Members are encouraged to apply!

#IDIC

What inspires us all each week is the fun we have producing a podcast in the Star Trek Multiverse. Each of us contributes our talents and time because this is a labor of love! We’re all passionate Trekkies that love the franchise and love contributing to the Star Trek Community!

Please, consider joining the team and helping us carve our own little corner of the Star Trek Multiverse — in podcast form!

Live Long & Podcast!

Livestream Technician

Tuesday nights, Priority One broadcasts the live recording of each episode on most of the major Social Media platforms. We need someone in the “virtual booth” to help manage the technology that makes that possible.

Additionally, the Livestream Technician adds a 4th voice to the recording. In this capacity, the Livestream Technician will not be responsible for hosting duties (i.e. reading headlines, moderating/leading conversations) but, instead is welcome to offer commentary and inject their voice into the conversation. Think: Roz from “Frasier”… Or Robin Quivers from the “Howard Stern Show.”

Livestream Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing tools like OBS in conjunction with Reastream.io to broadcast on Facebook, Twitch, Periscope (Twitter), and YouTube.
  • Manage The Scene
    • Manage opening credits, transitions between the “talking heads” and the articles or videos referenced in the episode
    • Inject SoundFX or other colorful devices/media to help improve the Livestream experience.
  • Managing backup recordings using tools like OBS and/or Zoom.

Experience working with OBS/XSplit/StreamLabs and/or Restream.io is welcomed by not required. More importantly, we encourage creativity and experimentation! We’re making theatre of the mind!!!!

Audio Editors

Priority One Podcast always welcomes talented audio editors to help produce the quality content listeners have come to expect each week.

After each episode is recorded, Audio Editors (AE) are assigned one of our core segments to manage that week. AEs will then sync the tracks provided by the hosts and begin the process of editing the segment for final publication.

Editing includes:

  • Syncing the hosts’ tracks
  • Editing for retakes/rereads
  • Remove silence, breaths, and filler sounds/phrases/words (like “ums” & “ahs”)
  • Cleaning up stutters/stammers
  • Enhancing the audio experience with sound effects or other embellishments

The core of each segment is scripted. Therefore, AEs are encouraged to follow along with the script to help guide them through the editing process.

In their raw format, a typical segment is no less than 3min and no longer than 30min. Therefore, the weekly commitment may vary but should not exceed more than 5 hours each week. Please note, that recording lengths can vary with some interviews and/or special event coverage.

Experience working with Adobe Products is welcomed by not required. More importantly, we encourage creativity and experimentation! We’re making theatre of the mind!!!!

Video Editors

Priority One welcome talented Video Editors to help supplement our weekly audio production. Projects may include short-format recaps like our “Captain’s VLOG,” cleaning up our weekly livestreams, or helping us with special projects like convention recaps.

Video Editing includes:

  • Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience
  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film
  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
  • Create rough and final cuts
  • Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.

We’re looking to fill several of these positions to help manage the workload — much like we do with our team of Audio Editors.
