With James currently on the run after the NSA’s Prism operation discovered his stash of Caitian… err… adult material, Tony and Elijah are left in command where in this episode of Priority One they Trek Out the darker side of Star Trek and spend some time chatting about Priority One’s plans for Vegas. In STONews we get down and dirty with some interesting patch notes from Tribble that shed light on the new Fleet Holding, and then we invite an old friend and previous guest, PhyrexianHero to chat about what the new Fleet Holding means to players and fleets. Finally, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages!

    My 60-Second Strategy: Give the Jem’Hadar Dreadnaught Carrier to your Science Captain. The free Subsystem Targeting abilities + Analyze Weakness combo pretty much lets you pick which one of your enemy’s subsystem to shut off. This strategy strongly relies on Flow Capacitor and Subspace Decompiler skills which are most useful for Science Captains. Plus, Science Captains on a strong tactical ship always makes sense as Subnucleonic Beam is the only way to effectively use Attack Pattern Beta on a ship with Tactical Team.

    Good discussion on the upcoming fleet mine.

    Just wish the fleet mine came out earlier, if I understand correctly in what was said, it would of helped Caspian get back on it’s feet. But with the Caspian Embassy in it’s stage of final upgrades and nearing Tier 4 with the star base, when I post this, it might still come in handy in rebuilding Caspian fleet.

    So, here is my gripe about our star bases…
    They are all cookie cutters. Besides the tiers, we have 16,500 fleets with 16,500 of the same thing.

    I know we’ll never have something as grand as what Star Wars Galaxies did with their housing, but it would be nice to be able to have something unique to each star base, whether interior or exterior looks, etc.

    I’d love to see star bases evolve to where you could really customize every aspect of it, and be able to visit other star bases of the same faction.

    I wonder if that would be something even possible in STO? Maybe the next time you have Dan on, you could get his take?

    The dilithium mine yet again leaves small fleets in the dust. Stahl even said on Priority One that it would help small fleets, but it does not. My small friends and family fleet doesn’t even bother with starbase progression because the end rewards are not attainable for us and still aren’t even with the mine discount, so we don’t even grind for dilithium at all. If fleet costs scaled better to fleet size, Cryptic would actually get MORE money out of us because we actually would grind and try to build up our starbase. Cryptic needs to find a way to implement scaling costs.
