Priority One Episode 126 | Set Phasers to Stunning

126Hello Captains and welcome to Priority One’s 126th episode, recorded on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 and published on Monday, April 6th, 2013 at!!!

We have a big show for you today folks, and it’s not one to be missed! James has once again had a transporter malfunction and suspiciously ended up being beamed to that gentlemen’s club with the Orion dancing girls again, so Tony and Elijah tackle the STO bull by the horns! In this week’s Trek It Out we cover how real life is once again turning to Star Trek, and a beer that’s name was the only logical choice. In STO News we cover Legacy of Romulus Dev Blogs Ten, Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen; the latest Spotlight on the Foundry, April’s Ask Cryptic, the latest patch notes from Tribble, Terrilyn’s article on, and the newest episode of On Screen. As if that wasn’t enough, in this week’s Field Notes we cover the basics of PvP, including some must-have powers and what you can do to overcome the intimidation factor before finally opening up hailing frequencies and reviewing your incoming messages!

Be sure to register for PvP Boot Camp classes here!

Remember, Captains, all the submissions we receive for our show will be entered into this month’s random drawing for 1,000 ZEN — this includes comments on our website and emailed segment topics!

On the question of what would Picard do, it helps to specify whether we are talking about Picard from the show or the movies. The Picard from the show probably would refrain from interfering, after all, if there is a cosmic plan for Assad to slaughter all of his people, is it not the height of hubris to think we can or should interfere? The Picard from Insurrection however is liable to use biogenic weapon on the rebels and shoot down any Federation ships sent to provide aid.
As for the Klingons and yielding, when they weren’t written by hacks Klingons are not one-track minded simpletons. After all no lesser of an authority than Martok urged Worf to yield in “By Inferno’s Light”.

I actually agree with vonohzu’s point about Klingons. Klingon A is not Klingon B. Just as one cannot say, “All French people think X or would act in such and such a way in a given scenario,” one cannot say, “All Klingons think X or would act in such and such a way.”

It has been WAY too long since there has been a Star Trek movie. They need to find someone who knows Star Trek to get to work making one.

Meanwhile I heard Abrams’ new space adventure Lens Flare II is due out soon!

It’s not a good idea to make the director’s seat a Star Trek fan club exclusive. I didn’t like the Abram Trek either, but the far inferior Nemesis was directed by a long time diehard Trek fan. Whereas the two best Trek movies, Khan and Undiscovered Country were directed by Nicolas Meyer, who didn’t know Star Trek either.

        Two things:

        1. For me, there is a difference between being a die hard Trek fan and “getting” Trek, as in understanding what Star Trek is all about.

        2. Every time I read “set phasers to stunning” I want to rip off a helmet and shake my long blond locks of hair down to my shoulders all sultry like…

Yes I am sad, stop staring!
