    Hello~
Great work on the episode once more, love it as always.

Regarding the team oriented play, I don’t think it would actually affect my play-time at all, since I usually balance it with my daily life.

And for the part where we may need to rely on fleet members and friends, I’m quite fine with it. I always go in a team with my brother and my girlfriend so there’s not much problem on my side.

Hi all, I have only started listening to you guys since Cookie and Jayce have been introduced as hosts. This will be the first time I have posted here…

As for the question, PUGing will not change. In other MMO’s that I do play, PUGing have never changed no mater how they upped the rewards and ease to get into the team content.
STO is very much a solo game at it’s heart. Leveling is all solo play till end content. Then all of end content is about doing things with others or solo play. I am a solo player in all of my MMO’s. Mainly because of family life not allowing me to schedule play times. PUGing is the only way I play once I get to the end. And unless they pull queueing from the game, PUGing will always remain. Commited Soloist and team players that are on when the rest of there team is not, will be filling these queues.

I also want to comment on the risk factor “missing” in STO. Making the damage you receive in the game something that requires going to a Spacestation to fix and requires you use EC is good. But I also think that being able to use the main engineering feature of the ship interiors and using materials would be good too. Creating a cost sink would add that risk factor. Enough so that makes you rethink your tactics while playing so as to limit the damage you are taking to reduce your cost at drydock.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

hahhhahahaha. That was a great ep guys. So much talent for that voice, Elijah.

As for this crew thingy. I was re-watching Voyager and i think they are using that as the point of ref for the crew system. Crew dies but it really has no effect on the ship at all. and if it does its only an ep then next week they are back to full strength.

I would not be surprised if the “team oriented” play results in me being invited to private matches for the new STF missions, if not I will do what I can in the battlezone, in other words it will have little or no impact as I am a lone wolf player.

I apologize for not mentioning this earlier bur Juene is pronounced June, but I did like hoe Cookie said it. That is the most creative mispronunciation I have ever heard and I heard any mispronunciations.

I come from City of Heroes, it is my original MMO and that experience has I have found, spoiled me immensely.
I was culture shocked when I came to Star Trek Online, that so much of General Chat was gibberish and trash advice. The community wasn’t helpful, and you had to search to find those players who wanted a community. Now we have missions that REQUIRE interaction, and the PUGs are a mixture of blind/deaf players, Trolls, and players trying to
If we want a game with a good community, we need stuff that cannot be done alone or with a blind and deaf PUG group. That is the problem as I see it is the two bottom barrel PUG members are going to be even more hated.
These are the Clueless or Blind/Deaf PUGer, and the Troll.
Clueless, and Blind/deaf PUGers can be handled with a simple change to the PVE Queue system, make it so that we cannot queue a Elite STF without having completed at least 1 regular version of that STF.
The Troll is something else entirely. We NEED a vote to kick option that will kick the offending player and draw a new player from the queue, preferably cross referenced to the group leaders friend’s list. (IE Pull from available queued players for that event, with a priority for friends). Additionally I would suggest that if you get kicked from Elite STFs too often in 24hrs, you should be subject to an Elite Ban, for say 1 week. In the last week alone I have ran into four people who have over 10 injuries to they’re ships and either fly to the edge of the map on Mirror Universe, or get blown up on purpose then never respawn.
    ____________________________

I also wanted to address Death Penalties, since you spoke about it again. I would be behind a modified version of something mentioned on this week’s podcast. I suggest that we have a chance for injury to DOff members of the crew. Unslotted DOff have a 66% chance to be damaged, and slotted have a 80% chance for injury. Injuried members of the DOff crew cannot help you till they are out of sickbay. Additionally, perhaps a 10% chance for an injury that REQURES a return to a starbase medical bay for recovery.
Perhaps a small chance (1-15%) of damage to your starship that requires a return to the shipyards in Earth orbit, or at your fleet. This could give a further benift to high end starbases (with a discount on the EC cost of repair up to free at Tier 5), as well as a penalty for ignoring the debuffs previously applied to the ship as I would see the chance for this sort of damage to rise for each treatable injury your ship has sustained. (fly a damaged ship higher and higher chance for “permanet” damage that must be addressed with a “retrofit” at the Starbase).

All in all keep doing a great job, feel free to paraphrase me as I know I got long winded, and Don’t Fly Drunk,

    Mark T.

the new stuff is pug-able it’s just a matter of if u get in a good pug or a bad pug. as for the new undine space battlezone as i seen on tribble the reward is terrible i get better rewards from the voth ground battlezone so lets pray that the rewards well get upgraded cause as of now it’s not really worth doing.

marvelous stuff on Axanar. Nice hearing more about what they’re doing.

The changes to the rep systems I feel are pretty well thought out and are obviously still a work in progress. I’m curious to see where this will end up going. I’ve always felt that that the game should reflect that your a star ship captain, heroic yes, but not a super hero (Cryptic has Champions On line for that after all)

Manage your ship, manage your crew. I’d even like to see your BOFF’s actually do more of the “combat decisions” instead of the players literally doing everything in ship combat. The better your crew the better you do. Let see cryptic but some breaks on some of the overwheming combat power we see far to much of in game. Melting some one ship in 3 to 5 seconds might be fun for some players, but it makes PvP nearly unapproachable. And for now, it leaves mass area combat entirely out of reach. Such would be utterly dominated by relatively small groups of players if such were implemented right now. I like that it looks like cryptic is starting to take a look at the “big picture” in ship to ship combat play.

The big challenge is still going to remain keeping the game approachable and fun for the the new player and at least giving the not so uber equipped the ability to compete with the hoary old dinosaur “leet’s running around with firepower and abilities to go solo Borg tactical cubes and melt the silly things.

I like the cosmetic changes that’ll be happening in character creation.. And Cryptic.. one word.. KDF. Gotta make that faction more attractive to play or persistant world PvP is never going to be a fun thing IF it ever happens.

I’d be really curious to hear where Cryptic wants to go with STO. What they’re aiming for. Calling STO a “Casual” MMO, while constantly striving to increase “seat time” for the players.. well.. That’s not exactly casual play. I see a lot of players in game all ready devoting more then 6 hours per day to STO play. That’s defiantly not casual play, though I agree that that STO should be just as approachable for the casual player as the hard core player.

Wonderful show, i cant wait for all of the season 9 stuff later this month.

PUGS will always have a place, if only for grinding for something. That being said, more pve ques will always be a good idea.

So, about team play. It seems like STO isnt sure what kind of game it wants to be. I think its safe to say that from the tutorial the last episode in the mission journal, STO is basically a solo game. But as soon as you finish that last episode, its ALL teamplay. For those of us that have been max level for years, we’re used to playing in groups. But I’m not sure whether new players will like the drastic way their gameplay changes overnight when hitting max level. Maybe the game needs to start making group gameplay a part of the game throughout the leveling experience.
