This week, we Trek Out Discovery’s final push on the Emmys with short vignettes from various production teams, a few interviews with Disco actors, and the future of After Trek.

In Star Trek Online News, we start to offer some spoiler-rific reviews and offer our opinion of Expansion 4 – Victory Is Life. But, that’s not all… we’re joined by Star Trek Online’s lead designer Al “Captain Geko” Rivera for a deep dive into the latest expansion! Al joined us for nearly two hours worth of discussion, so sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy this special episode!

    Nice interview!
    As usual the stories and the arts are off the chart, love all of it.
    If you looking for things to revamp here are some example: ground combat system badly need one, particularly the melee. Fleet system: holdings transwarp, ridiculous dil sink. Doff system, tailor system. In general, most of these system need an overhaul to catch them up to date or fix the bug that been there through years.
    Oh, whenever possible please add Temporal T4 Continuity to ground. Even just re-use fold-space effect is ok, but its really sad the temp spec is the only one missing strongest ability on ground.

    I never listened to this podcast before, and I never will again.
    It is so cringy.
    It’s sounds like every line is scripted, complete with forced jokes.

    Pity that you didn’t ask Al about why people can’t play the Vorta in the VIL expansion. That was quite an upset for players in the forum.

    Not a thing wrong with the new DS9 – except the spazzing NPCs which is the devs’ fault …. The toolset does NOT support mutiple, crossing wandering pathways, kids. Cull the herd.

    I can now WALK aound DS9 like I own it. Very appropriate.

    Please! Fix! 2 Huge Things: Horrible LAGging in the “New DS9” & any battlezone in the Gamma Quadrant “VIL” expansion (but Especially inside the new DS9), & that tiny, cramped everything-feels-like-it’s-crammed-into-a-closet-and-bumping-into-everything-else feel inside the “new DS9”. Either one by itself is bad; when both are combined (and the are!) it’s beyong annoying & tedious, it’s Horrible! Great graphics & visuals. Abyssmal implementation. I tried to reduce the graphics & visuals settings on my video cards to the minimum, which helps just a little, but the results are so ugly that the STO game is hardly worth playing, & nowhere else in the STO game has this ever been any issue. Hint? Hint?

    After Trek was interesting at the sametime it made you facepalm;
    Even though the information the program gave and the interviews was interesting, the hype and the overwhelming-happy attitude of the host felt weird and false.
    The totally uninteresting tweets that sounded they came from the Production crew was just waste of time, and the “Audience asks a question” also felt weird, felt that the audience had a gun towards their head and was given instruction.

    Thanks for dropping by Al. FYI to any sto devs reading these, my KDF Jem can not complete the last 2800 mission because he cant get to the old ops for the meet and greet.

      I think that mission has always ended on the social map version of the DS9 interior, as opposed to a separate mission-specific instance. So even though “Boldly They Rode” is still built with the old DS9 interior for that combat part, with the recent DS9 refresh for Victory is Life, the end of that mission should now take place on the new DS9 social map.

      I believe you can just warp out of the last space map (if you haven’t already), and go to Ops on the new DS9 social map, talk to Kurland, and finish the mission that way. I could be wrong though (I haven’t played through that arc on my Jem toon yet).

        Nope, the people that you need to talk to are not there. The only people in ops that you talk to are the new ones, Loriss and the rest never show up.It was an instanced version of ops anyways. The mission never accepts that you even reached ds9 if you have this bug. They had a bug like this for a fed mission after they remade earth spacedock way back when.

        It is supposed to be an instanced version of the social map like when you start the series for the conference. Also the current map does not have the people you are supposed to talk to, like loriss. The mission currently, for me, does not even acknowledge that i have even gone to ds9. There was a bug like this for a fed mission after they remade earth spacedock.

    Honestly, I’m having a hard time figuring out what ‘didn’t’ work about After Trek, or what there is to rework or “re-imagine”. I get the feeling that this is more about some higher-ups at CBS chasing bigger ratings numbers that they ‘think’ a popular IP-related show should get (“because it’s STAR TREK!” *jazz hands*), as opposed to numbers that are more ‘reasonable’ for a show of this format. I’m wondering if some execs simply don’t get the point of a show like After Trek; I don’t believe that aftershows usually have as big ratings as the actual shows, and they’re not supposed to, since all they’re doing is geeking out on the show that folks have just watched, plus some behind-the-scenes and explanation stuff that only a fraction of the actual show’s audience would be interested in anyways. So “Discovery” is the Star Trek show for the masses, while “After Trek” is a show just for the nerds. 😉
