I really enjoyed this featured episode. The space battles felt epic without being overly difficult. The reveal of the new big bad was great too. I realized “Of course, that’s an obvious loose thread Cryptic hasn’t pulled on yet.” I think the next few featured episodes are going to be from a more KDF point of view.

I hope to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Deep Space Nine with a new faction in the game. Some new characters with new ships and a new story line, just like when Legacy of Romulus launched.

DS9 anniversary! Who’s up for Dabo all night at Quark’s? Anyone? Unless you’re trying to avoid Morn; man, that guy can talk your ear off. :p

Great mission, a little slow at the start, but the 2 big reveals (the Hur’q and Odo) were very enjoyable. I wonder if the Hur’q’s return is really the reason that Odo wants to talk with us. ‘Cuz he doesn’t explicitly say what it is he’s here for; he could be asking for help with a completely different problem, like a Dominion civil war, or another outside attacker, like the rogue Iconian T’Ket. Either way, I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing what ‘Victory Is Life’ is all about (hopefully with a Cardassian/Dominion player faction? I just really wanna hear Garak say “Congratulations, Gul!” with that wry smile of his.) 🙂

Is it just me, or did the last episode of Discovery borrow a bit from that ‘other Star’ franchise? I swear at one point I even heard TIE fighter sound effects (like when that ‘one’ dude fell to his untimely demise).

Wonderful show everyone. I loved ds9, will definitely rewatch at some point. The new episode was alright, not really impressive.

P.S. You do realize that you dont have to keep ships after you get their trait dont you?

First of all Guys! Great show!

Please get the Bajoran ship! Winters will tell you that its giving rep gear a run for its money (as talked about on the P1 twitch stream)! Also you can always claim the ship then get rid of it nice you got the core and admirality card! It also unlike the other rep and mission gear CAN be re-engineered. So you can really personalize it but its perfect with the console as its gives great bonuses for phaser, disruptor and plasma builds. You dont have to get it this year just do the new mission and start it and finish it next year with another featured ep or else it will be hard for you to get in the future.

Now for my STD rant. Sigh.

First let me start by I really tried to get into this show. I gave up after the 5th show but have come back because of you guys as i want to share trek with other fans. But he writing is just bad. They are following into writing tropes time and time again which is why “We” see the twists coming. Going to the Mirror universe is iconic for the series but none trek watchers think it happened all the time, and thats a trope. We had the “savage”, “kill your gays” and “only a white guy can save us” tropes AND WHY? All for plot points.

I say this and it may sound silly but its my truth. Trek saved me. TNG, DS9 and the crew of Voyager saved me every week when late at night i would watch it on TV, which lead me to theatre and writing which in turn made me understanding the power of stories. Most important of all, how our world view is shaped by our story we tell ourselves.

I grow up in government care in Australia, with other runaway children or children removed from their families for protect, in a youth refuge waiting to be placed in a foster home. I was always told i was too old and too damage that I wouldn’t amount to anything several times a day. I saw the dark side of humanity, drugs, power abuse, violence and where as others where overwhelmed and failed to rise above it. I was angry and I had nothing to look forward to. My sister was damage to and when she was 13 she started being in hospital because of her Demons. For years I saw here fall to her mental illness from the abuse till it got to much and she killed herself last year, Because she was in that much pain. She had just turned 31 a few days before, but had stopped recognizing me years ago, because of her illness and the drugs she was on.

I however somehow survived, I would be lying if i said it didnt effect me, I was deeply effected, even more so when i sister past. And yet I wanted to live and take my power back. To be happy and have joy in my life. It may sound selfish but its not but it is complicated. There are so many feelings you have. It took me a long time to come to terms with the own demons, but I always had hope. And though I ask my self “Why” all the time, I find that i was no different from those around me other then I watched a show and tried to live by its ideals.

A TV show had moved me so much it made me release that I still had power and my own story, my own reality was based of my own world views and ideas and if that changed, I could change.

I know that watching trek sounds corny but I really believed that it changed my outlook on life and has shaped me into be a well rounded human -at least I think so. So I know how important and needed it is. Trek need conflict but it need hope. It need to be more then just this dog meet dog world. We need trek to show us that the dark times or racism or violence its temporary if we try to be better and share what we have in common rather then what divide us. If I want to be reminded of drama I can always turn on the News, and hear about how crap everything is.

I share these words with you because Star Trek still has power to change peoples lives and bring us together and I feel we need more of that in the world to focus on. I not say not conflict, that would be a bad story, I just saying we need more hope in the world today.

What are your thoughts on the new featured episode, “Scylla and Charybdis,” in Star Trek Online?

I hate having precognition, seriously. Just hours before the servers were back online on Tuesday I was commenting on how, if the new expansion would be about the Dominion, we’d have to see Odo, Rene Auberjonois, return as in Path to 2409 he’s been cast as the Voice of the Founders… Sure enough the cliffhanger is Odo, although clipped from DS9, to tell the alliance that “we need to talk.”

I have to admit I was wrong. I thought that it was going to be the usual fight each group of mobs than the boss and done. And then the Hurq. They hit fast and hard and crippled the science part of my vested blocking my viral matrix and phaser beam drills. This episode made me get back to basics and old school beam fire at will the Hurq. This was an amazing roller coaster rid3 that had serious implications. Did the Tzebkethi truly adhere to the saying Th needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. The hurt will be back and the fact that omg ODO!!!!!!!! This expansion is gonna be epic.
