This week, we’re Trekking Out how Wil Wheaton’s life imitates art, a new sci-fi series coming from Ronald D. Moore, and new teaser posters for Star Trek: Discovery.

In STO News, it’s our year-end wrap up with a trio of Star Trek Online devs: Executive Producer Stephen Ricossa, Producer Maria Rosseau, and Lead Designer Al “Captain Geko” Rivera are joining us to talk about the highlights of 2017, what we can expect in 2018…AND they’re answering a few community questions, as well!

Later, our science adviser Dr. Robert Hurt is here with another report from the Astrometrics Lab.

And as always, before we wrap up the show, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages.

Basically they said it is going to be another year of nothing new added to the game except short missions that take 15 minutes to finish every several months. So basically no new content worth anything. The STF’s are all pretty much useless and the older ones no longer relevant and never played.

They will be continuing to scam you with the lock boxes and trying to get the tier 6 ships where most you see as spam are fake accounts that they use to sucker people into buying more keys.

They will continue to NOT fix any of the bugs as they have ignored them for years.

it is all acedemic,,space physics in this game is so bad it is not even a decent flight simulator,,the new online games are outclassing star trek in every detail.the 4 main elite ground missions that anyone even plays anymore are so badly programmed and full of bugs even i wonder why i still play, becouse after lvl 60 and all is epic you have nothing to do and nowhere to go and only salvage tech gives you any sense of accomplishment, seems to be no vision here at all.neeeding more for single players,,and the battelfields such as the borg, kabali tholian and even the dyson ground cud be so much better adventure lands and need more rewards for lvl 60s worthy of our rank.the zenkethy space batteldield is so bad no one is hardly ever there and almost unwinnable.i have at least 50k in marks of all type and they are worthless and i have nothing to do with them,,to bad i cant sell marks,,seems all the devs want us to do is to attain lvl 60 then repeat ourselves with another toon,,instead of a serious game we have pretty much a kiddieland game more of a fashion show and with no true enemy to come here to fight not much excitement.with so many buggs in the game and the new online games comming out star trek is a dinasour..pretty sad,,that a game that shud be the pinnicle of technology is run by programmers with no vision for it.

Thru my time in S.T.O. I was wondering if at any point had the Dev’s thought about a separate pet inventory bags? I would also like to see the inside of the ships have more operations to them. Examples such as more interaction with crew members, the entire ships compliment having same uniforms, not just the players and Boffs. Like to see the tailor opitions in our personal quarters more inter-working consoles to interact with. Also could we use some of our screenshots as pictures in our ready-rooms? As a “Trekkie” and a “Trekker” I would like to see if possible more planets opened up, do you guys think that will be a possibility in 2018? Also another question i find must ask is why in the world is the Mutara Nebula in game??? it was destroyed in the Wrath of Khan (prime time line)when Reliant exploded.

I do understand a few of them are not questions but more like opinions. However one can not help wondering have these things been thought about. I was also wondering if another faction were put into game would you all start to develop a language barrier between them? Kinda like they have in wow for example. Do you guys know if you plan to make a Doomsday machine STF? Which would be so cool on a level I can not even express! Also would it be possible in the future for those of us that made a 22nd Century character to remain there instead of going to the 24th? A lot of us liked the idea of how it took us back to the heydays of Star Trek. We just wish we can still in that time line and do 22 Century missions.

Noticed how some of the game is following some books will we see more of those kinda contents added? Will we see the Cha’dak in the future? Will we see the rise of the Typhoon Pack or something like it since the Federation now as taken on the team term Alliance? What role will the Jem’Hadar play now that we seen them with Sela in the game episode Midnight? I could go all day with this but that would be unfair to others with better questions…

I did have another STO question. With the introduction of the fleet coffers for the colony, what’s the likelihood of being able to eventually see something like a dilithium coffer that gets fueled by the fleet dilithium mine for fleet projects, or a provisions coffer for the other holdings, and maybe an EC coffer?

The game is loaded with small bugs that have been reported in the forums (even with the trolls discouraging the reporting). Whether the moderators are not passing it along or they are not reading them. I wish the Dev’s would take a more serious role in fixing the issues within the game.

cq) A story that makes you think and question things and the nature of what we believe.

Love the idea of Nip/Tuck Borg.

A wonderful show to end a great year with, thanks to Dr Hurt and all of the Cryptic guests.

P.S. As for the endeavor system, is the Tholian Captain fixed?

I was wondering about the possibility of more interiors for the ships, such as the TMP / TWoK Enterprise complete interior, the Enterprise-E interior, and the Enterprise NX-01 interior, for those who enjoy doing things in the interiors of their ships. Is that likely a possibility? If it helps, I did find a youtube video for images of the TWoK Enterprise interior, which I’ll link here.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af7r1Ltp11I

Also, what are the possibilities about being able to change the alert status on the interior, especially for those who role-play using these interiors? For example, changing the Voyager interior to Red Alert, or the newly redone Galaxy-class interior to Red Alert, complete with appropriate klaxons. I also know that when you first gain access to the K-13 fleet holding, the station is at Red Alert as well, but comes off of Red Alert as you level it up.

One thing that really interests me, is being able to have the Lobi / Lockbox ships become account unlockable, meaning once you get them on one character, you can reclaim it on any character on the account. This would include ships like the USS Enterprise-J (Universe-class T-6) along with the Temporal Light Cruiser (T-6 Prime Timeline Constitution), the Kelvin Constitution and Kelvin Intel Dreadnought, among many, many others. Any chance of that becoming possible?

With the semi-recent redesign of the Cardassians, will we likely see them become a playable species, and/or faction in-game, perhaps with a completely independent story away from becoming allied with either the Federation or the Klingon Empire as the Romulan Republic characters do?

Since you guys mentioned DS9-related things for 2018, will we get to go to the Trill homeworld? You may recall this was featured in the 3rd season episode “Equilibrium” where we discover that Dax had a … “forgotten host”. I ask that as I’ve been fascinated by the Trill in the show, and would like to see it be possible to go there in-game. This could also potentially allow players to convert a Trill character into a Joined Trill character, potentially, if they wanted.

I know, that’s a heck of a ‘laundry list’ of things, but they are things I’d be interested in seeing happen.

    What makes good science fiction?:

One thing required for me if it’s a movie is getting the “science” correct. I can accept hearing sounds in space, even though impossible. But getting some other pretty basic science wrong sucks and causes a distraction, especially if you are a scientist, imho. For example, sometimes you’ll see things like a small hull breach creating a stream of vapor shooting INTO the ship with an emergency declared about losing air. (Note, this happened in the first or second episode of “Star Trek: Enterprise”.) That is just wrong and a situation easy to deal with… in reality simply covering a small hole with anything reasonably thick and pliable (the sole of a shoe/boot would likely work) will buy you a lot of time for a proper repair. After all, there’s a POSITIVE pressure inside the ship. Speculative science, like warp drive, is great! But don’t screw up science fiction by showing us what is scientifically ridiculous given the circumstances.

HAHAHA Just like in STTNG Season 1 Episode 2″The Naked Now” when Data corrected Riker when He commented on the bridge crew being “SUCKED into Space.” Which is entirely incorrect, it’s actually “BLOWN OUT into space” Positive pressure inside, Negative pressure outside. lol
