In Star Trek Online and gaming news, we’re reviewing the launch of Season 14 – Emergence – on PC, and interviewing Sam Webb from Modiphius about the tabletop RPG Star Trek Adventures.

Later, Jayce is here with another Trek Lit 101.

And as always, before we wrap up the show, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages.

Hello all in priority one, and thank you for you fantastic podcast, one of my weekly highlights.
And now to this weeks question.
Well, Well is the time waiting for season 2 to long?
For me the answer is no, why? Star Trek have always been a show with hope about every our future, it had warmth and humor, it was with other words a really god family show. Discovery has non of that, it’s dark and gloomy.
And then we have the Klingons, first I was a bit upset that they look so different, but then thought that i must give the series a chance, don’t get me wrong it’s not that I’m against changes but i have now seen five episodes and what did it bring us, Klingons that almost can’t speak and are worthless in hand to hand combat. I personally can’t in any way connect this series with the rest of Star Trek, is this the same race that Kirk have pease negotiations with in undiscovered country?
For me it feels like Discovery is about another universe, and a more proper name for the series would be Dark Trek Discovery.

Interesting take on the show…hmmm…Dark Trek…

        Hello again.
I can see now that my mobile divice was a bit to eager helping me to spell.
So it should be “show with hope about our future” not “show with hope about every our future”
        Sorry about that.

I’m not too keen on the idea of waiting a year and a half for the next season of Discovery, but I’ve noticed many of the Netflix Marvel series only produce a season every couple of years, so this may just be the sign of things to come.

There’s something that needs to be mentioned to fleet leaders about the new Colony Fleet Holding. There are two new permissions in the settings for the fleet. One to allow certain ranks to donate to the coffers, and one to allow them to use the coffers to fill fleet projects. Both of these default to “Off” for all ranks except the highest.

Fleet leaders need to change these permissions, especially the one that allows the lower rank members to donate to the coffers. The reason is that when fleet members get commodities that they can convert into fleet credits, they want to spend them. If they can’t donate them to their fleet’s own projects (because they’re full or no projects have been slotted), they’ll look for a fleet in the Armada with projects that can accept them. You need tons of these commodities to advance the fleet holding, especially for the upgrade projects, so allowing all of your members to donate to the coffers is essential.

As for using the coffer for fleet projects, this should probably be set to allow anybody who can manage fleet projects to also do this.

    Wonderful show everyone.

Over another year for disc season 2?, no way is that a good idea, especially for keeping subscriptions for the cbs service.

and Winters: Prisoners are for dilithium *sung in muppet chorus*

As for the bugs in melting pot; 1) i agree with Joey, 2) I certainly hope to see a much more dangerous swarm happening in the future to warrant the Tzenkethi response. They just werent that scary.

    –Discovery Thoughts–
-Yeah, I think Space PETA is gonna have some words about the Discovery crew’s use of that tardi-thingy creature.
-And why is the whole Discovery’s saucer spinning whenever the spore drive is turned on? That just seems entirely impractical. Not to mention all those poor ensigns getting dizzy and ralphing their lunch into the bulkheads…
-Shame that Saru went all stupid in the last episode, it was obvious to everyone but him that abusing the tardi was gonna go wrong. Isn’t he supposed to be a SCIENCE officer or something? Seems like he should have known better.
-Just when you thought Lorca couldn’t get any darker, we learn what happened to his LAST ship. 🙁 It’s arguable whether that was the right call, but DAMN man…that’s messed up.
-Mudd’s back! 🙂 Even without the epic handlebar moustache, I swear Rainn Wilson channels the character so well, it’s eerie.

I waited more than a decade for Star Trek to come back on TV, what’s another year and a half for Season 2? I do worry about the state of CBS All Access by that time though; that thing needs more ‘strong horses’ to pull the cart. (Old sitcoms and NCIS reruns don’t really fit that bill.)

Request from a longtime listener: can Elijah, even just once, refer to the new season in that special voice of his as “My Emerrrrrgence!”?

Regarding the Colony fleet holding. I have noticed, that when you donate to the Coffer, you gain fleet credits. However, when you look at the leaderboard you can see that your contribution to the fleet does not go up. If you donate directly to the projects then the contributions are noted on the leaderboard. If we are contributing to the fleet via the coffer and gain fleet credit for it, then this should also be reflected in the leaderboard.

The Drantzuli in Melting Pot, reminded me of the Bugs from Starship Troopers, especially when they swarm you. The only good bug is a dead bug.
