I own a PS4 I will surely check it out. I also rely heavily on a controller in the PC version. So I am looking forward to an even more controller friendly UI and a simpler keybind system being ported to the PC version.

No-cross platform? Don’t think many would make the jump. Maybe just create one or two alt checking out the control UI, etc. Really curious how they will handle the end game skill controls, it is overwhelming sometimes even for keyboard. And btw, you still can’t dodge roll to controller stick’s direction, only where the camera’s facing. I really would love it to be fixed.

“I don’t remember” “maybe but I’m not sure” you guys answered more of her question than she did of yours what was the point?

Not cross-platform (as of yet) is a bummer but not being able to port over your (Gold) account/characters is to me the console killer. I’ve been playing STO since Beta and having to start over from scratch is a definite no-go – I’m not going to handle 2 different accounts.

Also I prefer STO on PC since I can switch to my fleet’s forum, Reddit, STO Academy Builds or the STO-wiki and back to Holodeck/tribble. This is a big part of my overall STO experience and a required tool for my advisory role in my fleet.

I’ll definately take a look but won’t stick around in Console Land.

I’m a bit concerned though that the console-conversions will sap away Dev resources from the main game.
The good news of course is that this will mean STO will be around for even longer *happy dance*.

Good show P1, great interview and I enjoyed the Fan art.

My thought about the console is that if the console players aren’t on the same server and using the same accounts as PC players, then the console version might as well not exist as far as I’m concerned. STO’s single server and unified chat across all cryptic games is a big reason I love STO. Community is critical to me, and I really loved Kenna’s question about it.

I hope it is fun for those who do give it a try. I hope that it is a great financial success for Cryptic. I also hope that in the future they figure out how to make a unified community.

To Elija and Kenna (and Zeronius), the episode where Spok cries is The Naked Time. It is also the one where Sulu rampages around the enterprise attacking people with a sword. Really good episode.

My favorite is actually animated, The Lorelei Signal. It’s the one where Uhura finally gets to take command of the Enterprise. Also she gets to lead an away team to rescue Kirk and Spock, which has the wonderful scene where a villain starts to monologue and Uhura shoots her then orders multiple security teams to sweep the building and just stun everyone so they can sort them out later. According to Memory Alpha it’s one of Nichelle Nichols’ favorite episodes too.

If I had to pick one of the actual live TOS episodes it would be By Any Other Name. I like the Kelvans ability to casually ignore the galactic barrier and turn people into big D12s. Plus it has Scotty’s classic “It’s green” line.

    Another great episode; thank you!
I’ll stick to my PC; I am not a console gamer.
My son, on the other hand, is quite excited about getting back into the game and talking his friends into giving it a try. He left because of the lag our PC experienced with the Delta quadrant maps, but this should not be a problem on his xBox One.

My first reaction was excitement, but after the interview I was left with only disappointment. (Not with the interview itself, just the information we learned from it.)

It was my hope that Cryptic was taking this opportunity to completely redo STO “under-the-hood”, which not only would have allowed for cross-platform gaming, but also might have finally opened the door to User Interface improvements and mobile app development that we have been told is too difficult or impossible based on the current architecture.

So, no, I probably won’t be downloading it later this year. To me, it turned out to be a non-story. The game is 6 years old, and anyone who really wanted to play it already has because its unlikely their current PC wouldn’t support it. Also, it will be difficult for fans to play on the consoles because they will be 3 months behind all new releases. This means the only people who will play on the console will be casual games who won’t be willing to put any cash into it, and so Cryptic will likely loose money on it.

Man, this feels like a pessimistic comment. Sorry about that.

Don’t be sorry, you hit it spot on. Good point.

And I would’ve preferred a proper port to the Gateway instead of any console as well.

My reaction to the news that STO is coming to console was blah because I don’t play console games anymore. Will I be playing more unlikely not. Here’s why I say that at the time of the interview Maria said no character transfer, no Zen store carry over, and whole new account don’t get me wrong I like playing and replaying the missions, but to have to pay for everything I already bought plus I’m a lifetime subscriber I don’t see any investment in it for me in the long run at this time.

Disappointing news. As a long term STO player that wanted cross-play and toon-transfer this is disappointing news. Been waiting since the beta when they were considering it for the 360, now we’re expected to start from the beginning. Life-time players getting messed around on this. Might have to download on X1, Ps4 eventually.
