Wonderful show everyone, nice to hear Mark again, sorry to hear Jayce is leaving. Rock that Education Jayce.

As for power creep, its just a side effect of a long running game.

Power creep is a problem in every MMO. But checks and balances are placed in-game to limit it, just like the newer Mirror Event Queue or the Reputation Power limitations come in. Obviously, the power creep will make the devs remaster the Queues eventually to rebalance for the higher DPS level, looking at you at NWS.

I do not expect us to ever reach the levels that we did with the broken Research Lab consoles, but it proves there is a LOT of headroom to the DPS scale.

DPS builds also have to do with skill, as Jayce pointed out, but also tools, like macros. I still don’t play with macros as much as the BIG DPS’rs.

Great show as always, P1! In regards to power creep, I’d simply echo the panel in saying it is a necessity of the medium. Players need enticement, not only to continue playing, but also to continue purchasing the new shiny. In my opinion, Cryptic and PWE have done a fair to good job at finding balance and so long as they stay the course the game should continue to grow and evolve.

Truly bummed to hear Jayce will be leaving. He’s such a natural fit, a solid anchor, and a wealth of knowledge. He possesses that rare ability to be both the straight man AND the comic, and does both extremely well. His absence will no doubt be felt…plus, didn’t he even consider the poor, hard working, talented, and undoubtedly sexy author of the Priority One Facebook exclusive comic (beautifully drawn by the great Jon Towry). An education is all well and good…but think of that strikingly handsome writer!

Hrm. Anyway, great show guys…ah…keep it up!

I believe power creep is there, in a sense. However, the devs have made it still very n00b-friendly. I don’t consider myself a min/maxer, but I still have fun with playing through normal and advanced queues with my 5-15k DPS builds.

I don’t feel any more power creep than I did the day Delta Rising went live. If anything, I feel that they have done an excellent job balancing the careers, so not everybody has to be a tactical captain to play effectively. The fleet secondary deflectors and tier 6 battlecruiser pack are evidence of that.
