    Hello people from P1 !!

Looking forward to the armada system, you asked us what we would love to see extras, well I put up a post more stuff for dominion/cardassian players also would want to ask is cryptic doing more with the armada system like to ask to make it a bit better for people to start a fleet also an option to vote an inactive leader out so there is room for a new leader…

My thoughts on the armada system are that without cross faction armadas it will have ashrt term positive effect for federation fleets a long term negative effect on the game as a whole and kdf in particular.

In effect it will be exactly the same as buffing gear which ends up benefitting the top players far more than the bottom. Same here. Amassed wealth will flow from finished flets into unfinished ones. This is good. There is a choice of spec points or fleet progress, choice is good and both options are good.

But because the vast majority of played hours and thus wealth are fed side the small fed fleets will grow faster than small kdf fleets. This is not good because the bonuses are generated by total armada level, and fed will gain those faster. This becomes a self perpetuating system.

Adding kdf later will help, but be too little too late. The majority of the stockpiled wealth will be spent in the first month if not first two weeks. With none of that flowing across the faction divide, when the ksf finally join what does come their way will be a pittance.

When your fed main is enjoying an 8% spec point increase rapidly closing on 10, and your kdf is at 5% and nor moving, which will most players opt to play? With so few kdf fleets “finished” how much dil is going to flow down to the needy? With fed fleets able to receive a 10% decrease on costs plus flodown from finished allies will they even play their contraband farming kdf alts?

This was a hr3at chance to help the kdf. Shame it was missed.

I am most interested in the way exp vs dil rewards will play out. I think that was a very elegant design and will be the most beneficial part of the system, even if most don’t recognize it as such.

      Tl/Dr
The kdf needs that first week/month of resources and to enter cross faction armadas as peers. Getting left over spots and trickle down months later will hurt not help.

The one thing I want from the Armada system is something that wont be in it, cross faction alliances.

Wonderful show everyone, thanks for visiting Al.

The Fleet Armada is amazing idea, but a terrible name, methinks someone doesn’t remember Spanish 101 eh?

That being said having multiple fleets help each other out and the incentives to uplift lower tier fleets is just simply gravy on top.

Perhaps this could pave the way for a Fleet Armada holding? Joint Operations Command Center anyone?

  10. DWWolfe on 2015-07-06

I have one question, and I am hoping it can be answered in the next part, but time will tell.

Are the Armadas going to be faction specific, ie all FED or all KDF, or can they be mixed?

I know some fleets have both and it would be great if they could donate across faction lines.

  11. Zoberraz on 2015-07-06

Honestly, most of what I want from fleet is better cross-alliance interaction.

for example, my romulan character is in an organization called the Tal’Diann, divided between a Fed-side and KDF-side fleet.

The KDF-side is more greatly populated, so whenever there are fleet events, I can’t really attend with my Romulan main since they’ll set it in the Klingon-side starbase.

If the Armada system allows to mix-and-match Fed/KDF fleets and allows people across factions to be invited, I’ll be pretty happy.

  12. StarChaser on 2015-07-06

I think the Armada system could be a good way for fleets with highly skilled players to pass those skills to players in other fleets. I have seen comments in the past about unless you were lucky enough to be in a fleet that did high level content regularly, you would not be able to play that content. Armada may be a way to fix that. Alpha fleets could be master fleets, Betas the apprentice fleets, and Gammas the rookie fleets.

I agree with the comment made in the show about a free T-6 ship at level 50. Yes, we do get free event ships, but they are cross faction ships. I think it would be a good idea to have free T-6 Federation, Klingon, and Romulan starships.

If there were such ships, I think they should have 4 mastery traits and 10 console slots. I don’t think you would have to make up a new ship either, maybe a water downed version of the Command Cruiser and Pilot Escort (no command or pilot skills and unable to use the command and pilot ship consoles). Now we need a premium T-6 Science Vessel, and with 10.5 incoming, I’m certain that is not too far off.

      • StarChaser on 2015-07-06

Goodness, I keep thinking of things…

I would also like a T6 Constitution Refit. Since we are saying what we would like…

    … who Armido disagree?!

I’ve travelled the Borg and the seven fleets:
    Everybody’s looking for something!

Some of them want to use you.
Some of them want to get used by you.
Some of them want to abuse you.
Some of them want to be abused.

    • Lt. Bazz on 2015-07-06

      P.S:

(like I wrote before) I am recently listening to all P1P episodes from the start (currently at #164) aaand …

The Armada system sounds … *SOUNDS* … like the the BEST THING for small fleets (like ours) since the introduction of the fleet system 3 years ago.
      ONE VISION!

I would absolutely love to be my fleet to be a Gamma fleet from the sound of it!
Screw spec points (for now), llap dil discount!

Anyway, I am rebouncing the community question back to the hosts:
What armada should we join? What should be the criteria?
Timezone? Language? Average level of competence? Participation? …

      P.S.:
Kam! (and I am trying to get you emotional for once, Data 😉 )

I am part of the fleet (Sector 31 ANTKB) we have been around since beta and are one of the largest fleets in STO. We have several completely finished bases with well over 1500 individual players with multiple characters. We have been waiting for something like this armada since the fleet bases came out. Now we can finally link all our fleets together. Thank you!

Now lets talk separate ground & space personal trait slots so we don’t have to keep switching back and forth for every mission. Upgrading items need Modifier re rolling on gear and weapons.

  17. neonphase on 2015-07-06

I would like to see some sort of Recycaling program with current fleet items. I know it cant be just me who has purchesed fleet items just to never use them and to sell them only gets you energy credits.
It would be nice to ba able to even get back half of the Fleet Marks and Dylithium that you put into it. This is something that I believe everyone will benefit from as well as prgress one’s fleet even more.

Really looking fwd to the new and improved Fleet management system; as one of the fleet leaders that run 3 ‘top tier’ fleets (our own armada) with member alt’s swapping all over trying to fill projects, it’s all too easy to lose track, since a fleet swap also includes a rank and history update. Being able to keep better track of a member’s history will be very, very welcome. Just one word: Gateway 🙂

Some other fleet improvement ideas that have been on an old list of mine is to empower the T3 shipyards; let ships be repaired there for free – airlock the usual base engineering NPCs and even ditch the critical repair components to increase the importance of the shipyard. This way lower fleets in Armadas can benefit from top fleet shipyards. Removing the Critical Repair Components will only affect Adv/Elite level players, so the impact on the general ‘normal lvl’ player base will be minimum (they could use free shipyards around ESD perhaps). This will offer a gratifying return on investment considering the massive amount of resources once required for a T3 shipyard.

Having seen the gorgeous revamped ESD, fleet starbase OPS could use a revamp/redress.

Great show with lots of gems in there, and Al put it best in naming Kenna, Kam and Jayce the Next Generation ! Keep it up P1, looking forward to part #2.

*Correction for (they could use free shipyards around ESD perhaps) read –
(non-fleet players could use free shipyards around ESD)

    Really nice episode as always!
    Just some thoughts.
Armada sure is a welcome and awesome update.
But I think we do in need of a detail fleet revmap.
    1. Many assets provided by fleet is obsolete by R&D system. Maybe a specialized fleet R&D console that allow you to re-roll even modify the existing MOD on equipments will be extremely welcome addition. 2. Also allow operational asset to be usable on all PVE and mission will also be considerable boost to fleet’s functionality.
    3. Transwarp function, simply add direct access through menu, plz.
    4. Unlock fleet maps’ trait change, etc to be the same as normal zone.
