Elijah

Elio is a Northern New Jersey Cuban-American and graduate of Kean University, having earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance in 2011. He has performed in internationally renowned performance halls such as Avery Fisher Hall with the New York Philharmonic, as a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, and in Beijing, China as a representative for Kean University. Since 2012, he has had the wonderful opportunity to Executive Produce Priority One – the premiere Star Trek Online podcast. Whether recruiting, managing the global team of talented volunteers, arranging interviews with special guests, editing, web-development, finding sponsors, managing crowd funding, or writing content for the podcast, Elio has a hand in it all. A long-time Trekkie, Elio has been watching the series since he was a child and sneaking in late night, back-to-back, episodes of TNG reruns. He finally embraced the Trekdom in college and spent many hours catching up on the entire multiverse…. instead of studying.

I know I’m late with this response, but I couldn’t disagree more with Elijah’s op-ed in this episode. The breakaway from traditional MMO mechanics is one of the best and most welcome features of STO. Class dependency is one of the worst features of traditional MMOs. I have wasted hours of my life with 4 out of 5 members of a group ready to start a dungeon while we spam chat channels with “looking for [insert specific class here]”. And you wish STO had more travel, seriously? Instantaneous queues are one of my favorite features of STO. Travel is BORING and I’m extremely glad all the important content in STO is available via instantaneous queues. Sector space is boring and they should just get rid of it. I should say, “Ensign, set a course for the Vulcan system, Engage!” and the camera cuts to my ship doing the warp animation, and then the game immediately loads the Vulcan system. I always pay for transwarps to missions because wasting 5-10 minutes traveling through sector space is not fun.

Itunes and anything apple is total poopoo and unworthy of priority one.

BTW I think Dr. Hurt should check this out. Star trek like ships are not too far away.

Not sure if you were aware, but the US Navy already deploys laser technology today, operationally, in the Persian Gulf.

According to the report from the Congressional Research Service related to the technology, “It can effectively counter surface and airborne threats, to include small boats and drones… firing it costs about a dollar a shot, according to the Navy.”
