yes i do support #BringInRiker. i think that Jonathan Frakes would be a great director for the next star trek film. he knows his trek and he is someone that we, the fans are comfortable with. he did a great job with first contact, which is widely considered to be the best star trek film of all time. if frames couldn’t do it then i guess JJ Abrams would be OK but i REALLY don’t like what he has done with the timeline and he has shown complete disregard for the star trek universe we know and love. to show my support of #BringInRiker, i even created a William Riker character in STO.

I believe that Riker would be a good director for Star Trek 3, however if he couldn’t do it JJ Abrams would be OK, as long as he doesnt do any more lens flare 🙂

P.S If Riker did get the director of the movie, and it tanked, I believe we should ask for Eljah’s resignation as captain of the USS U.S.S Priōritās and make Jayce Captain 🙂

Great job and Happy Holidays to the entire Priority 1 team!

I think I would be more inclined to let JJ finish off the trilogy. I would hate for the “feel” of the final part to somehow be different than the previous two. Dont get me wrong, I have nothing against Frakes’ work and enjoyed it immensely. But I would rather have him behind the helm of a new set of Star Trek movies that are set forward in time like STO is… at least this game would give some of the writers a creative direction… lol

    Cookie!

You are not alone in your frustration about the pie eating and gingerbread interacts being too close. @Geoscinerd and I were discussing our own frustrations while listening to your live feed. We go to click on Pie and queue up for Gingerbread. Then you can’t cancel the queue and you’re stuck. Particularly frustrating if you queue a new character that doesn’t have a snow gun yet. Now you’re “that guy” that brought a snowball to a gun fight.
    /rant

    Chris

PS: The moment I heard Cookie say “recticle” I knew that would be my submission for the bloopers episode. 🙂

You are not the only one sliding into another f, Cookie, it happens in space as well.
For the ice races, steer with the mouse, when you get to a tight corner, jump and turn yourself in the air just before you hit the corner.
No JJ, and i’m not sure about Frakes.
    Wonderful show everyone.

My knowledge of directors is pretty much limited to what I’ve heard on the show. I’ve never really delved that deep into who, besides good actors, makes good movies before. I usually base my opinion of a movie mostly on how much I enjoy it and how much the story speaks to me, and, though it’s hard, I try to keep my preconceptions to a minimum.

Good advice on the winter race. Now I jump to stop at three or four corners each race, and I only fail if I don’t pay attention or try to cut the corners too much. It’s important to let go of the forward motion key before you land though, or you will keep sliding.
I feel for Cookie too. I’ve queued up for the invation once myself by accident. I think it has an upside too though. If it hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t have done it as often.

After giving it some thought I don’t think Riker is the solution to this mess. I think JJ should finish off his vision. Even though I can’t stand this JJverse at this point I think the story needs to be finished and put aside. If episodes like Parallels or books like Q-Square shows that this kinda universe can exist in trek. I feel the third and final movie should be about trying to send Spock home.

Somehow I don’t think Trek should be on the large screen. I remember JJ referred to Star Trek being like classical music and Star Wars is more like rock. Star treks strengths has always come from story telling. While action is good once in a while that is not where all the best trek came from. “The Inner light”, “Balance of Terror”, 2 very difference style and with some intense moments in the latter without it having heavy action. While there are some good action episodes like “Sacrifice of Angels” that was a climax episode setup from a much larger story over a season.

More importantly Good trek comes from stories based on issues of the day. JJ Didn’t do this well and you can’t on pure action sequences.

When I look at the first JJ movie I can see he tried to bring out a lot of different aspects into that movie. I enjoyed it a bit. Sure kirk driving the car off a cliff was stupid but the scene of Spock getting bullied was spot on for anyone who saw the animated series. This movie set the stage for this universe I get that. This first movie had to focus on this. Into Darkness failed on a number of levels. It rehashed one of the best movies that didn’t really have room to improve on. It had too many plot whole. the issue of the day that I can see would be terrorism but it only used it as a plot device to a bunch of action. Enterprise did a better job showing the issues of terrorism is the third season when it shows how far someone might be willing to loose themselves over an injustice, the emotions of trip who lost family. I just can’t believe I used Enterprise for this argument since I didn’t like enterprise.

What this universe needs to do is show the impact of the Vulcan people and how they have been displaced. (Again enterprise did something similar to touch on the issue in “Twilight”.

Temporal Stories are nice once in a while like in “Time’s Arrow” or in “Past Tense” but all the time like the temporal cold wars of enterprise. There is a point where it is too much. When I got to “Storm Front” I almost screamed in frustration.

I think Star trek needs the smaller screen T.V. Movie production cannot handle the hit and miss nature of Star Trek. Episodes like “Masks”, “Spock’s Brain”, “Lace and Profit”, “Threshold”, etc were all experiments that failed. Those kinda disasters would kill a movie franchise. They didn’t kill their series. Even for a movie like Generations key elements like El-Aurian only exist because they had time to establish them on the series.

While I believe Franks can direct a good Star Trek Film, JJverse need closure so we can move past. If Prelude to Axenar proves anything it is that Fresh minds can do a lot in the existing universe. Once JJ is finished we can move forward. Once established then let franks direct.

So I am a huge supporter of Riker directing Star Trek 3,
HUGE !!! First Contact was epic and I really liked the humour and zen components discussed in Insurrection.

Your comment about letting Abrams finish off his trilogy, and then bringing in a new director makes sense too.

I always hoped Abrams would finish off the trilogy by telling a story that tells how his movies are the history of the mirror universe.

This would mean we have been tricked into sympathising with the characters of the mirror universe.

This also would allow for a story that could explain away the destruction of vulcan and many other inconsistencies. It could create the backdrop for a climactic sacrafice to restore the prime universe or the desicion to allow the mirror verse toto countinue da da daaaaa.

As for a scientific topics for the Dr.

My next story that I am publishing Maela of Tholia, that will be out this month, deals with the topic of quantum entaglment and the use of crystals to create this effect.

Another side topic about crystals os the effect how crystals create an electric charge when vibrated. The Piezo electric effect.

In particular my story talks about the use of crystals to create a quantum entangled holographic system, that has the capability to project holograms over large distances. The holy grail being a holographic system that uses the suns ionic field to power and project a solar system wide quantum entagled holographic field.

How do you like dem apples 😉

So any information discussed about about how the quantum entanglment theory works in realation to crystals or the the piezo electric effect, would be my vote for a scientific topic 🙂

I really enjoyed the radio drama, keep up the good work

    Peace, joy, and long life.

Great show guys. Couple of things that may help your listeners. For the winter race. If you find yourself slipping and fear sliding off track. Do a roll. It will stop you dead.

Also for ship scanning.. the talent that grants temporary hull and shield when using an attack pattern, while you have that temp hull and shield you won’t be interrupted while scanning. I keep 2 attack pattern betas cycling on cooldown

JJ needs to die in a fire. I don’t mind franks I just dont want a repeat of Insurrection.
