143Greetings, Captains! Welcome to the 143rd episode of the premier Star Trek Online podcast record live on TrekRadio.net on Thursday September 26th and published for download on Monday, September 30th!

Unfortunately James has been accosted by a salt vampire this week and won’t be joining us on the bridge of the USS Priority One, so Elijah and Tony take command and bring you an epic show.

In this weeks Trek It Out we look at 61 movie sins committed by Star Trek Into Darkness. In STONews this week we find out what happened to the highly anticipated Feature Episode we were expecting this month, some interesting changes to Lobi that hit holodeck last week, a very sought after tribble is finally available for players in the C-Store, the return of the Crystaline Catastrophe and Captain Geko answers community questions in the recent “Interview a Dev” blog. Next up we join Justin “ChivalryBean” Lowmaster for this episode’s Community Spotlight as he presents his Foundry Mission Review of Cute, Fuzzy Things by author Hippie John before we finally open Hailing Frequencies and see what’s incoming from YOU, our listeners!

Topics Discussed:

This week’s Community Questions:

  • — What additional sins did Star Trek Into Darkness make? Give us your thoughts!
  • — What do you think about Lobi now being account bound? Is this the first steps in an economy revamp? Let us know!

Everything Wrong with Star Trek Into Darkness (61 Sins)

We are Live on TrekRadio.net every Thursday at 10pm ET / 7pm PT! If you’d like to join us live, during the show, Trek Radio has a built in IRC Chat client. Just click on the Community menu tab and select IRC Chat – input your desired screen name and enter!

A long-time Trekkie, Elio has been watching the series since he was a child and sneaking in late night, back-to-back, episodes of TNG reruns. He finally embraced the Trekdom in college and spent many hours catching up on the entire multiverse…. instead of studying.

I hate JJ and what he is doing to Star Trek.

I really really really hate him.

Ok now that i have had a breather… the transporter thingy screws around with alot. I mean i am a big Voyager fan.. but if they had this in 24th cent… no point. Now that i think about it there was a Voyager ep that they got it from. Prime Factors where Kim is transported half way and back.

As for the game, I pay alot once a month for Lobi, BUT A QUICKSTARTER? I am afraid you lost me sir. Feels like a betrayal.

    Greetings All

Great show as always. I listen to you guys as I drive to work. I usually get 1/2 a show per trip in. It’s a great way to start and end my day. On a side note I have seen the USS Vengence and it looks really close to a fan based ship that was submitted for the new ENTERPRISE-F fan submitions. JJ Abrams rip off a fan creation maybe? hmm…

Here is the thing, in my eyes.

Their money maker is the cstore, and as well with the lock box’s. I will not, nor should anyone else have to fork out more money to them for them to bring content WE as a community want. They have the tools in their hands to find out. Hold more specific based voting poles that define what the users of the community want to see added. Also what I really want to see as this has continued to be said is. “They have doubled their team”. I have seen nothing but delays apon delays, bugs not getting fixed and so on. If they have doubled their numbers why is there a lack of things getting done, and why are the issues of the game not being resolved in a timely manner. Have they really doubled their numbers or have they lost key dev members to other companies.. could this be the reason that their website has a long list “last time I checked” of positions to be filled.

Content wise, Id love to see space expanded, more systems, more iconic planets such as ferenginar ect. Love to see more ships come forth and new fancy shinies. More story lines, more content in general to stimulate all people of this game. Lets get away from the huge grinds such as fleet projects or reputation projects and get interesting and FUN things to do in game.

I do like they finally made lobi account bound, smart move.. will it make me want to spend more. Yes and no, itll be good to open boxes now that the lobi can be shared between all my characters but they need to do more and fix more of the game before I fund them.

Among the many things that ticked me off was the blatant disregard for distance in this movie.

According to Voyager, 300 billion km in 20 minutes at Warp 9 is ~2.3 ly / day. So Janeway and Picard could have gotten to Alpha Centauri in 2 days, ish. (4.5 light years away)

Based on the numerous canon star charts available online, Qo’Nos is about 150 to 250 light years away, give or take depending on which chart. Ergo, as it would have taken Janeway two and a half months to get to Qo’Nos from Earth, minimum, at warp 9, it takes into Darkness Enterprise less than half a day going at warp 5 or 6?

All this time, it seems, Qo’Nos was on the outer rim of the Ort cloud and we never knew it!

I agree with you guys, I would pay for an expansion pack like we got, seasons maybe. For kick starter I would not pay towards because that is more for smaller game companies. I already pay for the cool ships and content like a Reman in a Scimitar, I paid 35 so he can be like Nemesis. I am F2P and will pay for the good items in game and pay cryptic every month in zen
