Welcome to the NEW inDevelopment – a new column and video series here on Priority One. Each month, we’ll be sharing our favorite Trek (and non-Trek) related cosplay tutorials, guides, and other fun stuff.
Hey there! I’m Robyn. Star Trek has been a part of my life since I can remember. Kate and I recently started a blog, The Farthest Star, dedicated to our lives as Trekkers and the Andorian mercenaries Vynni and Ell. (and probably food because I love food!) Doing the Andorian thing has been so much fun and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!
Hi, I’m Kate. I grew up watching all incarnations of Star Trek; I’m so lucky to be with someone who shares my love for it! Robyn and I have been cosplaying as our original Andorian characters since 2005. (Before anyone asks: we are DS9 “Relaunch” canon Andorians—and no, our antennae don’t move. Yet.) My background is in graphic design and handweaving. Since we’ve been doing the Andorian thing, I’ve gotten interested in special effects makeup. I would love to do some more involved stuff, like rubber casting and airbrushing.
I’m Adrienne (a.k.a adorpheus) – I run VentureCosplay.com and my blog adorpheus.com. I grew up watching TNG and TOS and I’ve been a Trekkie ever since. I’ve been cosplaying since 2004 (and sewing for much longer), but I started cosplaying as an Andorian when Kate and Robyn invited me to cosplay with them. Aside from cosplay I’m also a musician.
Our first tutorial will be for making your own Andorian antennae. We’ll discuss tips and techniques and demonstrate how we create ours, so be sure to check back!
